Another Peacemaker fic from Tsuki-chan! Yes it's short. I'm thinking of continuing it though. Don't know what the title has to do with it though. I guess it's because of the flower in the ending sequence of the show. I think it's a poppy! Anyways,I hope you enjoy this little drabble of sorts.
Blue Poppy
Clouds were beginning to cover the afternoon sun, blocking out the radiating rays. One would think that this would be a relief from the heat; however, the clouds seemed to lock it in.
Sweat had begun to gather on the young girl's brow. And she wiped it away with a rosy sleeve of her kimono. It was a rather improper thing to do but the child did not seem to care.
She was a beautiful thing, violet hair cropped just above her shoulders, and wide, chocolate eyes. Petite, dainty, and yet some how sure of herself. Walking with her head held high, the girl made her way through the crowded streets. She brushed past people, cautious and determined.
In her hand was clutched a small blade, sheathed in its scabbard as a safety precaution. She held it by her side, pressed against her thigh. There was a reason she toted this weapon. But no one would know why until she revealed it. And then, the only onlookers would be those spirits that haunted the outside world.
The gates that led to the temple were large, almost ominous. She stood beneath their grace, staring at the building that loomed before her. Stepping forward, she moved to fulfill her mission.
The post awaited her, standing patiently as she drew the knife from its sheath.
Footsteps would sound behind her. And she would turn to face the sound.
A man approached her, his own dark purple hair secured in a loose ponytail. Those indigo orbs scanned the youth, and as he took her in, a smile curled his pale lips. The girl recognized this man; his soft smile and forgiving eyes were all too familiar. This was Okita Souji.
A slight blush crossed her cheeks. She had been caught.
"What are you doing here, little one?" the words poured smoothly from Okita's mouth. He laid a hand on the child's shoulder, and gazed into her brown hues.
The girl said nothing. She merely returned Souji's grin. Then, she made her way back to the gates that led to the outer realm, away from the temple's peaceful sanctity.
The man watched her go. Once the young lady was out of sight, he turned toward the post to see the damage she had done. Carved deep into the wood were the words "Saya and Tetsu." The kanji was perfect, though a rather messy heart surrounded them. Such defacing of holy ground should be punished,
Souji found it adorable, however. What a way to profess your love, carving it into the side of a temple. Perhaps he would show Tetsu…
