Mortality
She waits in the shadows and sharply draws breath
Not knowing if this might just lead to her death
Yet she patiently stands there, a friend by his side
With her face set in hope and still burning with pride
She hasn't yet realized how mortal she is
Not concerned with her own life, but more so with his
With her face in the glow she has yet to reveal
How on this day and always he does make her feel
Until she hears words that soon fill her with strife
At last she looks down, and now fears for his life
The question is not will it keep him alive
The table has turned and he might not survive
Before he goes into that smoking abyss
He has but the time to spare her one kiss
For once in her life does she want him to stay
But it's far too late, he's been taken away
Just like the one she reminds them all of
She lets down her guard and confesses her love
Though it's hard she refuses to think that he's gone
Despite all that's happened she'll be ready at dawn
To continue her search and find him once again
But it's easy to think that this might be the end
Suddenly finding some strength for another
She picks up the pieces as well as her mother.
