Beneath the Ice

His eyes shine like amber ice
Yet reflects nothing of the turmoil that rages within

So many emotions trapped beneath the surface
Never to reach the harsh descriminating light of day
Nor the peaceful glow of the moon

Forever they are lost
Within the darkness they shall be forgotten
Yet they beg and plead to be found and freed as they once were

The anger thrashes blindly against the chains that keep it restrained
Fighting to be let loose

The hatred tries to burn through
Yet is once again restrained by the seemingly unbreakable control

Sorrow's heart wrenching cry
That reverberates through his body and soul
Is once more ignored and smothered in the darkness

The happiness that struggles to let itself be known once more
To be what it once was before the piercing coldness destroyed all in its path

All these emotions held prisoner underneath ice that shall never melt
