This is a Luby. Please dont hit me, I know it's not possible but I do love them!

The rain fell down as he rushed towards the entrance, head down, hair plastered to his face. The rain hid his sadness well: he just looked wet instead of wet and upset. No one would know.

She stepped out and looked up. The rain had started again, and this time the clouds looked ominous. Today had been a tough but rewarding day-full of patients, but nearly all of them survived. Abby liked those types of days because she finally felt like her time was well spent.

Pulling her hood around her head she ran out into the downpour and collided with a body.

"Oomph, sorry." She looked up the torso and found the face of Luka Kovac looming above her. "What are you doing out here? In just a shirt. Luka!" She chastised him playfully, yanking the attending under the shelter. "Are you mental?"

"Sorry." He murmured, not looking at her face. Suddenly her hands closed on his cheeks and he found himself staring at her.

"Something's wrong." He nodded without speaking. "What's happened?" He wasn't planning on telling anyone but there was something in her eyes that made his resolve melt. He could trust her; she wouldn't make fun or spread it around.

"Sam's gone." He said simply before burying his face in his hands.

"Oh Luka, I'm sorry." Her slight smile slipped and she threw a comforting arm around his broad shoulders. "Where's she gone?"

"Florida…I think."

"You think?" She asked softly.

"She didn't say. In fact I should really say she didn't I scream /I . We kind of…had a fight." He sat up straighter and sighed. "She said she wanted to move out and I got upset. I kept asking her why and she flipped. She packed her stuff and took Alex out of school. I came home as they were driving off, note stuck to the table."

"Bitch."

"That's the problem-she isn't."

"True, that was mean of me. But still…leaving without saying goodbye is pretty low."

"I don't know anymore. It's hard being in my apartment-it's full of them. His games, her perfume, everything is them."

"So you're not starting a shift?"

"No, in fact I had just finished one. I was going to ask Kerry if she needed me to pull a double or anything."

"Listen, I'm off. Why don't we go to Ike's. We could grab some food, some drinks. Have some good old fun." He looked over at the petite woman sat next to him with such a compassionate look on her face and he smiled.

"Why not-let's go." He stood up and grabbed her hand, pulling her into a gentle hug. "Thanks Abby, for caring."

"Shut up you big oaf." She laughed,
