Sally, Amy Rose, Mina Mongoose, Rouge, Blaze and Bunnie were all sitting on a grassy hill overlooking Knothole Village. They were relaxing after winning a hard battle

against Dr. Robotnik. Each one needed time away from the males of the freedom fighting group.

The sun was setting over the horizon line, giving Knothole a rosy glow.

"I really wish that daddy would allow me to run my own life. I'm so strained." Sally thought aloud.

"Just one day of freedom to be myself would be enough."

Mina put an arm around Sally.

"There, there, Sal. Things are going to get better. I know we've had our differences in the past, but I still support you." She said.

"Actually, I look up to you. I wish I could multitask like that."

"Thanks, Mina." Sally said.

Bunnie flopped her ears and stroked them.

"Sonic is certainly a lady-killer, isn't he?" She asked.

"Yeah. We've all lusted after him at one time or another." Rouge said.

"But my first love is jewels. Sonic doesn't quite have that certain... sparkle I'm looking for."

"Oh, Rouge, that reminds me..." Mina said, digging around in the pockets of her khaki shorts.

She pulled out a shiny looking rock.

"This is rose quartz. I found it in a sandy patch while hiking through the Great Forest."

Rouge smiled and took the shard of quartz. She observed it in her white-gloved hand.

"It's beautiful! Except it could use some shining up." Rouge said.

"Sally, I'm glad we bridged the rift between us. Sonic isn't everything." Mina said.

"Mina, I never said I didn't like you." Sally said.

"Well, Sonic caused conflicts, I got jealous, I think you were a little jealous of me..." Mina said.

Blaze looked to Sally and Mina.

"Sally, Sonic will be in your future, good or bad. He still cares for you. Mina, he also cares for you. Actually he cares for all of us. That is what makes him a hero." She said.

"He loves you all, despite your differences and arguing over him."

Amy smiled and nodded her head.

"Sonic isn't a bad guy at all!"

"Sally, if Sonic deserves anyone, it's you!" Mina said.

Sally looked down at the grass.

"Well, I don't know about that..." She said.

"Sally, Sonic has been with you longer than any of us!" Amy said.

"Yeah, Sally-girl. Sonic absolutely loves you and doesn't know what he'd do without you." Bunnie said.

Sally got up and looked out over the village, wind blowing though her red hair.

"I'm going to go tell him..." She said.

"Tell him what, Sally?" Amy asked.

Sally turned her head.

"That I love him."

Sally walked off.

Sally reached Sonic's hut and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Sonic shouted on the other end.

Sally pushed the door open.

Sonic was lounging on his bed, cleaning out his ears as he usually did when he was bored.

"Sonic, I was talking with the girls, and..." She said, shutting the door behind her.

Sally ran up to Sonic and wrapped her arms around him. Sonic flailed his arms around.

"Hey!" He said, pushing her back.

Sally giggled.

Sonic gasped, making googly eyes.

"Sonic! Will you be serious for a moment?" Sally asked.

Sonic regained his composure.

"The Hedgehog is never serious!" He said, pointing a thumb at himself.

"Well, Sonic, I know you've been waiting a long time to hear this." She said.

Sonic cocked his head, twitching his ears.

"I love you, Sonic." She said.

Sonic stood up and shuffled along the wood floor.

"Sal, gimme some time to think about it, girl!" He said, grasping the doorknob.

Sally came up to Sonic and gave him a big kiss on the cheek.

Sonic went red with embarrassment and sped off out the door.

Sally sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Oh that Hedgehog..." She said to herself.
