On Thursday, November 25th, 2022, with James, Albus, and Lily home from Hogwarts for Thanksgiving, Harry and Ginny prepared a different kind of Thanksgiving for the Potters.
Usually, Thanksgiving at the Potters just meant the typical Thanksgiving meal: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, cornbread, and pumpkin pie.
This year, Harry and Ginny had added the touch of a fall theme to their Thanksgiving.
Harry, James, Albus, and Lily were sitting at the dining room table waiting for Ginny to bring the food in when James, Albus, and Lily began to notice the theme.
"You put a tablecloth on the table Harry?" asked Albus curiously, "We don't normally use tablecloths, though the brown color is very falllike and fits Thanksgiving well.
"The vegetablelike orange of the napkins, plates, and forks meshes well with the brown," observed James, "When paired with brown in particular, this orange really gives off an aura of November."
"And the glasses, " added Lily, "Are perhaps the most fall touch of all. Brown background but with beautifully painted fall foliage of red, orange, and yellow so seamlessly blended together. These glasses would look right at home in Vermont."
"See," smiled Harry, "I wanted to add an infusion of fall into our Thanksgiving this year, but I wanted to keep it pretty simple. Hence, the single color brown tablecloth and napkins, plates, and forks were meant to create a simple but clear feeling for fall with the way colors blended. The glasses are a tribute to the beauty of nature in the fall."
"It's really nice, " said Lily warmly, "It emits a feeling of peaceful happiness. "
"That's the exact effect I was going for, " said Harry cheerfully.
Next nanosecond, Ginny came over to the table carrying a tray with five plates on it. She quickly set one of the plates down on Harry's, James's, Albus's, Lily's, and her own place settings, then left for a minute and returned with a large bottle of Budweiser, with which she filled all five glasses.
Ginny had already cut everyone's turkey into bite size pieces and spread it across everyone's plates so that it formed the words Happy Thanksgiving on each plate. She had then formed the corn into patterns that read off the names Harry, James, Albus, Lily, and Ginny respectively and had made somewhat of an exclamation point with the stuffing to the right of the corn. While the cornbread and pie sat by themselves at the end of each plate, Ginny had used the gravy on of the mashed potatoes to form the letter P.
"P for Potter?" guessed Harry.
"Right you are, Harry, " grinned Ginny.
"You clearly put a lot of work into this, mom," said James appreciatively.
"Much like the table set, it's simple but beautiful, " agreed Albus.
Mom and dad both did a wonderful job today, " said Lily kindly, "It's all coming together to have a simple but warm and nice Thanksgiving with an extra touch."
Harry and Ginny both beamed at Lily..
it was going to be exactly what they wanted:
A nice Thanksgiving with a feeling of fall.
