The Sleeping Habits of Sirius Black
by Archaic Angel
Summary: -one shot- Remus reflects on Sirius's sleeping habits and comes to a conclusion. RLSB Set during OotP.
He takes up almost the entire bed. Sometimes Remus is sure that he does it on purpose, making sure that instead of just laying straight he spreads his arms and legs out and maneuvers his body so that he can take up as much space as possible. That left him to lay on the very edge with one of his arms dangling over the edge, Sirius's ragged breath in his ear because whatever position he fell asleep in his mouth was close by one of his ears.
Sometimes Sirius mumbled in his sleep, little phrases that made Remus smile because then he knew he was dreaming about him. He didn't always mumble Remus's name though, sometimes he mumbled random childish words that made Remus smile as well because they made him seem so innocent even after all he'd been through.
Then there were the nightmares. On occasion Sirius would start flailing around and his mumbling would sound terrified and he would ask for someone to make it stop, to make the Dementors leave. Those times, Remus shook him awake and held him until he stopped shaking and fell back asleep. It killed Remus that he couldn't do more, that he couldn't stop the nightmares, but he had begun to notice that the more time they spent together the less frequent the nightmares became.
Remus tried to be at Grimmauld Place as much as he could, but Order business kept him away from his Sirius for weeks at a time. Whenever he was with Sirius though, he didn't waste any time; usually just jumping into kissing and holding each other. They had to make up for that lost time, thirteen years of time that Sirius had spent in Azkaban. Although most of the Order accepted them, or at least left them alone, except for Snape. He usually had some type of snide comment to make, especially about Sirius. Sirius just barked back that Snape was just jealous and held onto Remus possessively.
Sirius rolled over in bed, taking up even more room and catching Remus off guard so much that he ended up falling off of the bed and hit the floor with a resounding thump. This awoke Sirius immediately, who looked around confused for a moment; wondering both what had caused the thump and where Remus had gone.
"Moony," he called, sliding off of the bed and stepping on the werewolf in question.
"Watch were you are going," Remus said, pulling his leg out from under Sirius's foot and getting to his feet.
"What are you doing on the floor?" Sirius asked, rather confused.
"I got shoved off of the bed,"
"Sorry," Sirius said, apologetically. "Come on then, back to bed," he grabbed Remus's arm and pulled him down so that he was half lying on his back and half dangling over the side.
"You are insufferable," Remus removed Sirius's hand from his arm and lay back down on the bed, Sirius mimicking his movements until they were lying side by side.
"That's why you love me," he replied, kissing Remus lightly on the lips before pulling him into a light embrace and falling back asleep.
Just like before, shortly after falling asleep Sirius had manages to move himself so that he was talking up optimal bed space. Sirius took up the entire bed, and Remus didn't mind one bit.
