Sometimes, things happen, and no one really knows how or why. And sometimes this one thing can change a life forever, it may be a big thing, it may only seem tiny at the time, but every decision that you make, every turn you take, could change your life forever.
The boy fell to the floor in a heap, his robes tangled around him. Blinded by embarrassment and hatred he writhed on the floor for a few seconds, fear showing on his face and his lank hair tangled around his head, before finding his feet and running, almost throwing himself out of reach of his tormentors. Tears stung his eyes but he couldn't let them see, that would be a sign of weakness, and this boy never showed any signs of weakness, he was a slytherin, and slytherins were not weak.
One word, said at the right time, in the right place, could completely alter the course of history. The path is decided by the people who walk upon it, and time flows, as changeable as water in a stream, altering it's course at any moment should the need arise.
James stared after the retreating back of the boy, watching as he fled. The tremor in his shoulders was visible, surely he wasn't crying, he was a slytherin, they didn't have feelings, or that was what James liked to tell himself, that was why it was okay to suspend them in mid-air by heir ankles. But as he watched the boy disappearing he felt a strange pang in his chest.
'Earth to James. What's gotten in to you? You aren't even listening to Remus telling us ''we went too far this time'' again.'
Sirius grinned at his best friend 'I mean, we both know it's all in fun, don't we mate.'
'Yeah, sure, I mean, I have to go I'll see you in Charms okay?'
'Yeah okay mate, anything up?'
'No I'm fine, just got stuff to do, y'know.' He flashed a smile towards his friends.
'He must have seen Lily somewhere' Chuckled Sirius as James hastily made his way towards the castle'
He shoved his hand into his pocket and pulled out a rough piece of parchment, tapping his wand briefly he muttered something under his breath, thin black lines exploded from the point where his wand had touched the page, tracing an intricate map over the surface of the page.
'Good' He muttered to himself, before increasing his pace and half-running following a small black dot on his map.
