Mac and Cheese

Jennifer Coates stepped into the break room, in search of a snack. She knew there were crackers in the cupboard but needed something more. She looked in the fridge. It held the usual cream, milk and coffee flavorings but little else. She was about to resign herself to a snack of bland saltines when Commander Rabb walked in with his arms laden with groceries. Coates immediately started to help unloading.

"Commander," she began, "Why do you have so many groceries?"

"Well, Petty Officer, the vending machine down the hall only has things that aren't fit for human consumption. I needed some real food for a change. I'm going to leave these here as an alternative to paying a dollar for grease. Help yourself."

"That's really generous of you sir. I was really in the mood for some cheese to go with these crackers."

"Just call me the cheese man… Cheese for short"

"Alright, Cheese."

The two helped themselves to a snack. While they were eating, something occurred to the petty officer. "Cheese," she began.

"Yes, Petty Officer?"

"I was just thinking. You and Colonel MacKenzie may be in for some teasing if I continue to use that nickname."

"Why is that, Petty Officer?"

"Well, if it stuck, you'd be Mac and Cheese."
