Summary: Touya isn't the only Akira. Hikaru acts accordingly. Vaguely fluffy shonen-ai fun.

Call Me Akira

Shindou Hikaru has always had Akira in his life.

First and most ubiquitous, was Toriyama Akira. Throughout childhood he played Dragon Quest and read Dr. Slump and Dragonball, among others.

Then there was Kurosawa Akira, his father's favorite director. He only saw snippets of the classics; brief glances of "Nora Inu", "Rashomon" and what eventually became his personal favorite "Shichinin no Samurai" seen as he passed through the living room en route to help his mother in the kitchen. His parents felt he was too young to watch them until he was a teen.

By that he had already seen the animated movie Akira one night, sleeping over at a friend's house at the tender age of ten. His friend kept telling him it was an amazing classic, but Hikaru fell asleep half-way through.

Kobayashi Akira was an elementary school classmate for several years; an unpopular boy Hikaru didn't give a second look to until he found the short, bespectacled boy to be both intelligent and a doormat – Hikaru copied many a homework assignment from him.

There were others, of course. Akira was a common name, found on radio deejays, TV actors and anime characters. They were everywhere.

So when the time came for the transition from Touya to Akira, and Shindou to Hikaru, he wasn't sure. Using something so common for one so uncommon, rare even, in talent as well as patience, passion and drive, seemed horribly ridiculous.

"I can't call you Akira," he objected, when the other pro brought it up.

"Why not? We've known each other for years. We even live together, Hikaru. Touya is too formal. That's what you call my parents."

"I know, but they're Touya-sensei and Touya-san. You're Touya. You're my Touya/"

"I want you to call me Akira."

Hikaru paused, then announced grandly "I shall call you…Aki-chan."

And then he kissed "Aki-chan" before he could protest.
