Title: The Girl Afraid of Everything
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Belongs to other people. Except for Maria.
Author's Note: Another drabble. This time about Rome and the Librarian mentioned in my previous drabbles.
As Brian had said it was funny how life turned out. He didn't expect that when he had lost his bet to Suki and gone to the library to check out The Vagina Monologues (and shit that girl was fucking vicious) that he'd meet a five foot hellion. And he defiantly didn't expect said hellion to somehow rope him into volunteering to help with Children's Hour.
Those kids were evil little brats spawned from the Devil himself. He didn't care what anyone else said; they were.
And so began the odd friendship between him and the hellion (who was named Maria Valjad).
It was all heated arguments and lunches chaperoning the brats until he had impulsively asked her to dinner.
Stunned she said yes.
At first the date was awkward until they had fallen into their usual pattern of bickering and the date became something out of a TV show. All perfect and happy and stuff. He drove her home after the date was done and once again did something impulsive; he kissed her. She kissed him back.
One date led to another and another until they had suddenly become an official couple.
And so began the odd relationship between him and Maria.
Every other woman in his life had lasted two weeks at best (Maria and him had been dating for nine months now) and all the other women had been like him.
Speed demons, adrenaline junkies, women who like a nice fuck and didn't want anything else, and women who wore tight clothes and mostly skin.
Maria was completely different.
She was afraid of heights and hated to go really fast in a car. She liked the romantic stuff and wore modest outfits. Maria never wore a skirt that went above her knees.
And for some unexplainable reason, he liked it.
He told Maria two months ago about how sometimes he did some illegal street racing. She had been silent for a few moments before accepting it and asked if she could watch him race.
Which led them here.
Rome smiled at her. "Just relax okay? And stay with Suki."
"I'll be fine," Maria scowled at him, "I'm not the one racing, going at ungodly speeds remember? Be careful okay?"
Damn. Now he knew what made Brian and Tej act like such morons around their girls. He couldn't say no to those eyes.
"I will." Giving her a quick kiss, Rome headed to his car as Tej prepared to start the race.
"It's perfectly safe right?" he heard Maria ask, "Rome's not going to get hurt or something right?"
"Um.." Suki's voice trailed off.
Rome walked a little faster. His hellion was going to kill him when the race was over.
"Oh crap my boyfriend's going to die," Maria groaned.
