The first fanfic I've written in a while. One of my friends and I were talking about the Malfoy family, and wondered if they actually showed love to each other. And this resulted.
The rain beat softly on Draco's window, he yawned slightly as he marked the place in his book and after setting it on the nightstand he made his way over to the balcony over looking the grounds of the Malfoy Manor. Draco loved the rain, it made him feel like all his problems just washed away. Looking down he noticed a cloaked figure walking below him. Draco continued to watch, curious as to the identity of the stranger.
Soon the cloaked person began spinning around and laughing softly. Draco smiled, recognizing the laugh. It was a sound he'd always loved, but ever since Draco came home after his fifth year at Hogwarts, the sound was few and far between. Grabbing his fancy cloak with the Malfoy family insignia on it he made his way down the grand staircase.
He stopped a moment to look at the family portrait that had been painted the summer before his fourth year. Lucious Malfoy stood straight a cold stare in his eyes, he tightly gripped his gentlemen's cane which held his wand as if he were about to take it out and curse someone. Draco Malfoy himself was looking out of the painting, an unreadable expression on his face. His hand rested on his mother's shoulder as she was seated infront of him and his father. Narcissa Malfoy's hands rested in her lap as the emerald green gown flowed on the floor around her feet. She never smiled but by looking to her eyes you got a sense of tenderness under the cold mask.
Shaking himself from his thoughts Draco continued towards the door as he clasped his cloak around him. The house-elf at the door offered him an umbrella but he refused simply drawing up the hood of his cloak and stepping outside.
It wasn't raining hard but it was enough to soak the ground under his feet as he walked to the person dancing and laughing in the rain. "Mother?"
The older woman stoped and turnned to her son, a gentle smile on her face. "Yes?"
"What are you doing?"
"Just enjoying a peacful moment." She sighed as the rain hit the locks of blonde hair that remained outside her cloak. "I just love the rain."
"I do too." Draco smiled taking a few steps closer to hold his mother in his arms.
"My boy." Narcissa almost whispered resting her hand on Draco's cheek. "My baby dragon. You're growing up too fast. It's only two years until you're out of Hogwarts for good. You'll be finding a job and starting a life of your own."
Draco rested his mother's head on his shoulder. "Don't worry mother. You'll never loose me." He held her against him as if she were a precious porcelin doll. "I'll always be here for you." He felt Narcissa's arms pull him closer to her. "I promise." He kissed her forehead gently. "I love you, mother."
"I love you too, my son. My grown-up son." Draco held her close, and they stayed like that until the rain cleared.
