Haunting Ground

"Nightmare"

As she opened her eyes, she slowly rubbed the back of her neck as if it were in pain. It wasn't until her eyes were fully open that she realized her head didn't hurt at all. She didn't even know why she was rubbing the back of her neck to begin with. Looking around the giant room she was in, she quickly realized she was in some sort of gothic mansion.

"How did I get here?" she asked herself. "Where is here?"

"Take the recipe for a normal teenage girl." remarked a weird man.

"Add in a dash of fear and curiosity and you have Fiona. Fiona has just awoken into her own personal nightmare. She knows nothing of where she is, how she got there, or how to get out. All she knows is that she's inside a mansion. However, this is no ordinary mansion. For you see, this mansion is on the outskirts of….the Twilight Zone."

Fiona finally stood up and brushed her clothing off. She looked around again, observing her surroundings intensely. She slowly began walking across the room, keeping a close eye on every little detail of where she was.

"This must be the main hall." said Fiona to herself.

The room was gigantic. Multiple doorways were on both sides of her, and there was a large staircase in the middle that led upstairs. There was large red carpet that led from what appeared to be the main entrance all the way up the stairs.

"Wait, a main entrance?" Fiona remarked.

Fiona quickly dashed over to the door to try and open it. However, as soon as she was close enough to the door to open it, she realized that there was no doorknob. In fact, the door wasn't even a door. It was just a large slab of brick that covered what should have been an entrance.

"This just keeps getting weirder and weirder." remarked Fiona to herself.

As Fiona looked around the vastness of the main hall, she saw a single door to her left. She decided quickly that she would go and open it, before any doorknobs had the chance to disappear. The room she entered appeared to be a dining hall, with a long table in the middle and a fancy fireplace at the end of it. To the right of the fireplace stood a single door.

"Well, I guess I must press on…" said Fiona.

As Fiona made her way across the room, she heard the ticking and tocking of a grandfather clock that stood against the right wall of the room. As Fiona slowly turned the doorknob and opened the door, she heard an odd crunching sound nearby. Closing the door behind her, she walked to her left and investigated the sound.

"Oh my God…" remarked Fiona as she saw what the sound was.

Crouched down on the floor was a decaying man that was feasting on the body of another man. The decaying man slowly turned his head to see Fiona standing there, and then made his way slowly after her. Fiona screamed in terror and quickly ran back towards the doorway she had come from. However, when she reached it, there was no longer a door standing there. Yet again, a slab of brick had mysteriously replaced an entranceway. The creature lunged at Fiona and she screamed as it tore through her flesh.

Fiona quickly sat up and screamed in terror. She wiped the sweat off her brow and looked around.

"Phew, it was just a bad dream." she remarked.

Fiona observed her surroundings, and noticed that she was lying in the center of a large castle hallway.

The real nightmare had only begun.
