Summary: A clumsy Tonks and a little implied R/T.
The sky was rich with stars when the occupants of 12 Grimmauld place finally sat down to eat. Caught up in Order of the Phoenix business, their meal had been delayed so long that every stomach in the dark kitchen was rumbling loudly.
Eager to get the meal started, Tonks rushed to grab a large bowl of salad, one of the main parts of their dinner, from Molly Weasley.
"I'll take that for you," she told the red-headed woman with a smile. She grabbed the wooden bowl from the witch's hands before Molly could answer properly and hurried to the table.
As she leaned over to set the food down, her foot connected with something quite solid- Sirius's outstretched leg. Tipping over, she tossed the bowl in the air, throwing her hands out to catch herself. Small green leaves slowly rained down to the table, a few landing on the head of Mad-Eye Moody.
Mrs. Weasley gave an exasperated shout, whipping her wand out to slowly guide the leaves back to their original home. Everyone sitting down grumbled menacingly; their food was delayed once more.
As she felt her cheeks flush, no doubt to match the hot pink color of her hair, Tonks heard a sound beneath all the mutterings. A soft, throaty chuckle.
She looked up quickly. Sitting at the end of the table, looking deeply involved in his goblet of pumpkin juice, was Remus Lupin, hiding laughter.
When he raised his eyes from his goblet to her face, they were warm and full of mirth. She smiled tentatively, and he set the goblet down, returning the smile in full force. Oddly enough, she got a swooping feeling in her stomach, and it had nothing to do with the lack of food.
She slid into her seat, dimly aware of Arthur dishing the salad out into smaller bowls. For the first time, she wondered if her clumsiness was not a bad thing.
A/N: Thoughts?
