Author's Note: I'm back! Here's yet another post-Twilight fic that I cam up with while watching my tape of SWAK, for probably the bajillionth time. Anyways, on to the story!
Reflections
She's dead. We have a new agent on the team, but that doesn't change the fact that she's dead. Gibbs is angrier than normal, but after six months, this new Gibbs is considered normal. McGee tries to act like everything's okay. Gotta respect the probie for trying to resume normalcy. Abby doesn't drink Caff-Pow! anymore. Ducky has lightened up on the stories. The new girl tries to figure out why we aren't the people she had heard so many rumors about. I just follow orders and try to avoid the stares I get at headquarters.
When she died, Gibbs was so bent on nailing the bastard that he stayed at work for a full three days and nights without sleeping. Ducky made him go home. I found out later that even then, he didn't sleep. He just continued building that damn boat.
Abby dressed in white for a full week. She tried to hide her tattoos and tried to un-goth her hair. McGee talked her out of it. McGee was in shock for the first week or so. It's like he never knew that people get killed, like he couldn't believe it happened. Not only did it happen, it happened to her.
Ducky bored the team with stories of how other cultures mourn. It didn't help.
I didn't get to see any of this however; I was in the hospital for the entire week and a half afterwards. It was the plague combined with too much physical activity, not enough rest, and the shock of losing her all in one. I passed out almost right after. Apparently, I didn't wake up for about six hours. I never got to tell her that Timothy Dalton also played Bond, although I'm not sure she would have appreciated it if I had told her.
Now, McGee and Abby finally hooked up. I guess it was all that time they spent with each other trying to comfort the other. Ducky tells stories about her and they aren't painful to listen to anymore. Gibbs was a lot less angry once he killed Ari. I was relieved too. I visit her every day before and after work. I stand there for about ten minutes and at the end, I always say, "I love you Kate."
