Chapter 3:
Moving On
Washington D.C. – Present Time
Ben finished his narrative. He opened the photo albumand showed the others a picture of himself and Charlotte. "That was taken at Christmas, the Christmas she gave me this watch."
Abigail was instantly at Ben's side, embracing him. She felt no jealosy toward Charlotte. The letter she had written was what convinced Ben to carry on, and what had allowed their meeting to happen.
"That's why I was donating money to the American Cancer Society." Ben said. "I donate every year on the anniversary of her death."
The next day, the four traveled to Baltimore and visited Charlotte's grave. It was a somber experience for them all, but mostly for Ben and Abigail.
Riley and Alexis hung back, allowing the older couple to mourn together.
As the others walked away, Ben placed a single white rose on Charlotte's grave. He stood and said to the sky, "I figured out the clue. The secret no longer lies with Charlotte."
The End
Hey, I hope you enjoyed this story! It was originally meant to be a one shot, but as I started writing, I realized this needed to be written in chapters. My sister made the comment that this story is a lot like the movie "A Walk to Remember ", and for everyone who has been thinking the same thing, I have never seen that movie and did not base this story on it. Also, this story, or at least, chapters one and three, take place six years before "Catch Me If You Can".
