This piece and all the one's to follow are little drabbles that I'm putting all together under one lable, because they're not large to have to upload as individual stories. Expect more to come as I'm hit with random spurts of inspiration and, as always, Enjoy:D

Title: Forget to Remember
Game: Final Fantasy X
Character: Yuna, hints of Yuna/Tidus
Genre: Pure angst
Setting: Post X, Pre X-2
Word Count: 200

In the moment before their last moment, she knew. Caught his look and read in it, 'the end'. In the back of her mind she chants the words 'happily ever after' over and over again, as if they could really change the tragedy laid out before her.

Running straight through him was her breaking point; the feel of the airship's cold-steel deck a slap from reality. "Thank you," she murmurs to a soul she knows is still out there, somewhere; expressing everything and nothing all at once.

Later–torn away from the pier and the endless ocean that reminded her of everything that was him so much that it hurt to breathe. But she needed breath. Needed to keep whistling; fingers pressed to chapping lips just like he taught her. Just once more and he'd come running back, because he promised–she stands before a crowd and smiles, speaks the words she knows they need to hear.

"The people we've lost," she says, feeling the first stab of pain jolt through an already broken heart. "And the dreams that have faded..."

A second jab joins the first, scattering the remaining pieces on the wind.

"Never forget them."

But if only she could...

Note: In the japanese version of FFX, Yuna says "Thank you" to Tidus after he fades away. When dubbed in english, they changed it to "I love you". I have no problems with the dub, I just randomly chose to use thank you instead.
