Cast Out
Waves thunder below me as they crash into the cliff face below. Fine mist sprays me as the waves' crests slam into the stones, water escaping their torrential force and floating up to me on the sea breeze. Among the stale scent of salt on the breeze the presence of a familiar youki makes itself known.
The familiar energy pattern his youki exudes makes it all the more apparent he's there. Three energy stings compromise his aura, and it's become as familiar with me as my own. The first human ki, the weak aura that he harbors as Shuichi. The flaring ki that comprises the greatest part of his nature as Kurama is second, and the last, dormant for the most part, the ki that emanates from Youko. Three coursing energy threads that compromise the being he is. But, they also dictate what he is known as.
A blood-traitor…
Demon born to a human, he is a half-breed. A filthy, vile curse to the two races of which he supposedly belonged.
Or of which he claimed to belong…
I know better.
Demons scorn him because humanity taints the nature of the purebred blood Makai has so long strived to uphold. Humans scorn him because they don't know otherwise. His demonic soul grants wisdom, strength, understanding and knowledge far beyond their comprehension and they fear him for it.
He belongs to neither of the two places of which he was conceived and hold claim to him. Demons and humans, so different, both cast him away. Seems they're more alike than I thought.
Both have cast him out of their worlds and out of their lives.
It's taken its toll on him as well.
He has been abandoned, and while he acts strong, I see through the empty façade.
Abandonment leaves scars that run deeper than anything, cutting not into the flesh itself, but intothe soul directly, and it can't be hidden.
Instead, he lives by it. The neglect he suffers is what he turned on himself.
It's made him believe it's his fault. So, he punishes himself.
Life cast him out of it for threatening the balance…
So he's cast himself out of the lives of others to repent for what he hadn't done…
But, I won't allow him to cast himself out of my life…
