Kairi stopped writing and put her quill down. What was she saying? Her life was gone; all that had mattered to her had disappeared before her. She had not seen him for years. Her friends, her family, they all said he would come back. They kept their words light and merry, and their expressions cheery. A miserable attempt to keep her hopes up. At first she had believed them; it wasn't until later that she saw through their forced smiles and false words. She knew he was dead, she knew he was gone.

She glanced at the knife that lay carelessly on her desk. Her expression turned dark with realization and her eyes clouded with sadness. She knew what she had to do to be with him again. She knew it would devastate everyone, after all she had always been the optimistic one, but they don't understand the bitter feeling of loss that stayed with you no matter where you went. It was an icy feeling that started at her heart and ran through her veins when she thought of him.

She stared at the knife for a few more moments before picking it up. The silver blade glinted in the dim light and she smiled a sad smile. Tears formed from in her eyes as she brought the knife to her wrist. The blade cut her easily, and she quickly picked up her quill and dipped it in the red liquid. She had one last thing to write. She took the quill and wrote one last message. They deserved to know.

"I'm lost."

So lost
