A Piano's Echo

SW-So I was listening to this song from the Chrno Crusade Soundtrack, called Deai. It's this absolutely gorgeous song. It's all piano, with the exception of a few guitar parts, and images kept flashing through my mind as to what Chrno and Rosette could have been doing during this song, and that's what inspired this! To me, this song just gives off this sad feeling, as if it was written for the end of the series. So, since I haven't actually seen the last episode, this is my take on the ending of Chrno Crusade, inspired by this song, Deai. I hope you enjoy!

Chrno-Here's the disclaimer, provided by….eh? What's this? By the Elder?

Elder- yup…..ok….SW does not own Chrno Crusade, and if she did, she'd make the sisters wear something sexier.

SW-anime vein...what? No way in Hell would I do that, you perverted old man!

Chrno-..well you heard him. SW does not own Chrno Crusade. Now, on with the fic.

'Tick'

Rosette was sitting with her legs dangling over the edge of the burning fortress formerly known as Eden. She was watching the sunset as she listened to the faint ticking of the pocket watch. Not much time left, is there Mary? 'No…..which is why you need to tell him soon.' a voice whispered on the wind. How can I tell him? I mean, it's not like we can be together now 'Tell him…things will work out. Maybe not now, but eventually. Tell him.' Ok. I'll try. She heard the faint sound of footsteps and smiled as someone sat down next to her. "Rosette, We should be going. It's too cold to stay here much longer." Rosette only shook her head and continued to stare at the sun setting on the horizon.

'Tick'

Both people looked at the watch, as if just now realizing that it was there. "Chrno...There's something that I need to tell you." The devil turned and looked into her eyes and smiled. "I know Rosette…I know." Her eyes widened remarkably. "How?...I mean…" He placed two fingers on her lips to silence her. "I've always known…Deep down, I've always known. It's not something that someone can easily hide." She continued to stare at him, tears welling up in her eyes. He pulled her into a tight hug and they both sat there, crying silently, watching the sunset on the World, and on them.

'Tick'

"I-I love you, Chrno" Rosette said, her voice barely above a whisper as the watch's ticks came farther and farther apart. He looked down into her blue eyes, and sadly smiled. "I love you too, Rosette." With their feelings finally confessed, the watch gave its final 'tick' and stopped. Rosette's breathing slowed, and just like the pocket watch held tightly in her hand, stopped. Chrno only held her tighter as the moon rose over the charred remains of the Sinner's Paradise, whispering, "I love you" and "We'll be together soon…don't worry…we'll see each other again…" And as the moon reached its zenith, a lone piano could be heard. Its notes reverberating through the whole of Eden and the world. Echoing through time, just like their final words.

The End

SW-..crying I hope all of you enjoyed this. It took me awhile to get convey the emotion in this song just the way I wanted it in this story, and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. I hope it reached a part of you, that hasn't been reached in awhile, and made you want to cry. I know it did this for me, and I'm the author. If you ever get the chance,) listen to this song and see if this story fits with it. Well… I hope you all enjoyed!
