I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind.

all alone in space and time,
there's nothing here but what here's mine.

Silent, Meroko watches.

Below her on the street, Takuto awkwardly apologizes to his persistent déjà vu. In return, Mitsuki sobs quietly and realizes that Takuto is deader to her than Eichi ever was.

Their relationship had always been a game of give-and-take. Insides hollowed out, with no place to belong, Takuto has nothing left to give her.

Even together, they'd be empty.

Was this supposed to be a happy ending?

Meroko turns away for once, unable to feel empathy through the steady ache of unrequited love. She's given everything she can spare. Nothing is what she received in turn.

And nothing will come of nothing.

Only as an angel does Meroko discover what it means to be selfish.

She doesn't want to forget him.
