He saved the world again…

Good for him.

OOO

Trying to stem her tears, Keira quickly left the celebration party being held in Jak's honor. Earlier in the day he had finally defeated Cyborg Erol, and ever since then Jak had been surrounded by throngs of admirers all intent on doing any and every thing they could to please him.

He had shrugged them away with a companionable laugh every time, like he always did. She was use to that; his fans weren't the ones who had reduced Keira to crying like she was. No, it wasn't the Jak groupies that caused her pain, it was that woman he held in the circle of his arms.

That, and the fact that Keira couldn't even bring herself to blame Ashelin for her grief, was what caused the young mechanic to break down. Although she had tried, Keira couldn't bring herself to believe it was Ashelin's fault that Jak left her, because Jak had never really told Keira that he was hers.

She had taken it for granted, sure, and she was pretty certain that he had too, but neither one of them had ever said anything about being a couple out loud. Jak had never made Keira any promises, so she couldn't call Ashelin a home wrecking whore (1) and she couldn't say Jak was unfaithful.

The more she thought about it, the more Keira realized that was probably why she felt so bad. She had no one to blame, no outlet for her anger and hurt; she couldn't point at one person and say s/he was the reason her whole life took a turn for the worse; at least, not truthfully.

Even knowing that though, didn't help Keira at all. She couldn't change the way she felt, no matter how much logic she tried to apply to the whole situation. There was nothing she could do to make anything different, there was no way she could repair her life and make it as good as new.

Jak and Ashelin were together now, that was that. Keira knew she would have to deal with it, because that's how it was. Sliding down the wall she was leaning against, Keira sat at its base and let her tears flow once more, with only the night sky as a witness.

This was the last time she would ever cry over Jak, Keira promised herself that. When she was finally dry of all her tears Keira rose, straightened her shoulders and walked back to the home she had in Spargus.

It was time to move on.

(1) Although I can. I do believe Ashelin is a home wrecking whore, yes. Just so you know.

So, what do you think? Review please!
