Summary: Sara helps Greg out on a case
Spoilers: "I could really kiss you right now" scene
Greg Sanders sighed heavily as he made his way to Grissom's
office.
His first solo case had turned out to be one of the hardest cases he
had ever worked. It was a simple jewelry store robbery, with tons of
evidence that led absolutely no where. Despite being a CSI for a
year now, he wondered if this was some type of hazing ritual for
first-time solo's.
"Hey Greg! Come here a sec." Sara Sidle's voice broke
through his
thoughts as he passed by the break room where she was seated with a
cup of tea and a stack of papers in front of her. "I want to talk
to
you about your case."
"I don't know how much longer its going to be my case."
Greg dropped
himself heavily into a chair beside her and noticed that the files
she was looking at were the inventory and bank statements from the
jewelry store. "You checking up on me Sidle?"
"Of course not," she gave him a small smile "I just got
finished
with my homicide and knew you were having some trouble so I thought
I'd look into a few things for you." she paused upon seeing
the look
on his face, "We can't always solve everything by ourselves,
it's ok
to ask for help."
"Except I didn't ask you."
Sara was about to retort with a snaky remark and storm out of the
room when she noticed that Greg was giving her his goofy grin and
that he was leaning in towards her ready to hear anything that she
had to say. "You drive me crazy sometimes you know that?"
"Mm, I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad
thing."
Sara rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to the files in
front of her. "Your store owner has been receiving more diamonds
then he's been selling in his store, and in the past few months
his
back account has tripled."
"I looked over his bank records, they've been steady and the
bank
manager said that there's been no unusual activity in his account.
"That's because you were looking at the wrong bank. On a
hunch I
started looking closer at his files and I realized that he has two
account numbers and they're only off by one number. Which I only
caught because Hodges was taking forever with my results and I was
going to kill him if I didn't do something."
Greg's face was a mixture of both a smile and a scowl, torn
between
the amusement of Sara being pissed at Hodges and upset with himself
for not noticing what was now so blatantly obvious. He was about to
open his mouth and reply when the pieces began to fall into place
and he realized something that Sara hadn't yet.
He jumped up ready to sprint out of the room when Sara grabbed his
wrist and stood up with him, "What are you thinking?"
"Sara," He leaned closer to her so that they were at the most
an
inch apart. "I could really, really, just kiss you right
now." And
with that he turned and sprinted out of the room with Sara standing
there dumbfounded. She was about to sit back down when Greg sprinted
back to her, "What the hell" he said as he grabbed her face
and
smashed his lips against hers. The kiss lasted long enough for
Sara's eyes to close and for her to lean into the kiss before
Greg
pulled away from her. "Thanks Sara." And he sprinted out of
the room
again leaving Sara in his wake blushing and breathless, trying to
figure out what the hell had just happened.
