Chapter sixty-two: Kiwi
"Mommy?" Kiwi called. "Mooooooommyyyyy…"
"Kiwi, we're in the study." Coniniaue replied. "I'm telling daddy about my life…"
"I LOVE THAT STORY!" Kiwi darted in and sat down on her father's lap. "Did you already pass the…"
"No, I didn't."
"Pass what?" Edward asked.
"Kiwi's favorite part, the part where…"
FLASHBACK
Coniniaue left her lovely Aquroya home to go shopping for groceries. "Hmm… Dinner for one. It shouldn't take that long to buy everything I need for the next two weeks, especially on my salary and parents' money…" She mumbled.
She lifted her head when she heard the crying of a little girl. She was standing in the entrance of an alley, bawling her eyes out over her broken doll.
"Did you break your doll?" Coniniaue asked kneeling down by her. The girl nodded.
"Well I'll fix it for you, okay?"
"Okay…"
"And what's your name?"
"Kiwi!"
"Alright Kiwi."
Coniniaue clapped her hands and put one next to the broken doll. There was a bright, blue light, and the doll lay fixed at her feet. "Here." She muttered.
She was about to give the doll to Kiwi, and pulled it back and said, "Wait…" Coniniaue pulled a long, black thread from her sleeve and put it next to the doll. She clapped and transmuted the thread onto the doll, writing with it sideways down the doll's arm, "KIWI"
"Eek! Thank you lady!" Kiwi squealed, taking her doll. "Now I'll never lose it again!"
"No problem, Kiwi. Where are your parents?"
"I don't have any parents… They were killed by some kind of ALK-EHM-EE…"
Coniniaue was heartbroken. Alchemy was not discovered to kill… She thought furiously.
"Kiwi, why don't you move to the local orphanage and get adopted?"
"No, no, no!" Kiwi screamed. "The other kids are mean to me because I have green hair! They call me tree head!" She started to cry again.
Coniniaue picked her up and shifted her on her hip. "Come on. I'll take care of you, Kiwi…"
"REALLY?" Kiwi was delighted.
"Really."
"So now you're…"
"I'm what?"
"…Mommy?"
"Yes. I am mommy."
