The world always seems different, things around us are always changing for whatever reasons, but there are some things I wish could change for the better, the blonde thought, locking himself in his room for his own selfish reasons. "Baka Garu," he whispered softly.

"Ernest!"

The shout of his fellow pilot made the blonde stop and turn around, smiling. "Garu, how are you?"

The green haired boy finally reached Ernest and then caught his breath for a moment, before standing up straight again. "Ernest, it's a good thing I found you. I know you're probably going to hate me for this, but I have to cancel our plans for tonight."

"Eh? Why? You promised me this time." The blonde sounded really hurt, but he wasn't surprised.

"Ah, well, it's just that Leena finally asked me out tonight and, well, it's my chance to finally be alone with her. Please Ernest! I will make this up to you," he pleaded with his best friend, knowing time and time again how much he has let him down

Ernest sighed softly; he sometimes wished he didn't have these feelings for his friend. "Fine, do as you like." He then turned and walked away.

Garu looked puzzled when Ernest just walked away; he quickly took a few steps and pulled Ernest against him. "Ernest, you truly are a great friend, sometimes I don't know how you put up with me, but I will make this up to you!"

Ernest wasn't at all prepared for Garu's sudden move and his face was a light shade of red as his heart began to beat faster. He then pushed him away quickly. "It's fine, you don't have to make promises I know you can't keep." He then went running off towards his room.

He turned over on his side and looked at a picture Tune had taken of them last summer. Back then he also had always had to listen to Garu's complaints about Leena and how he wanted to be with her. It hurt so much, sometimes he almost wanted to just tell Garu how he truly felt, but the fear of losing their friendship had always stopped him. "No matter how much my love for you grows, there will always be someone else who puts us at a distance I cannot cross." He reached for the picture and held it against his chest.

"Ernest..."

There was a knock on the door; he could easily guess who it was. "Please don't bother me Tune, just let me be for a little longer."

Outside of the room, Tune was about to protest but she stopped herself and sighed. "Alright Ernest, but please come to dinner this time, everyone is worried about you..."

"I'll be there for dinner, don't worry Tune," he said softly back to her, then hearing her footsteps leaving his room, he looked back up at the picture. "Garu, if you only knew how I really feel." He then pressed his lips to the picture, in a kiss he wished he could share with the one he loved.
