The Cost
by: DDR
A/N This is just a poem that I wrote when I got thinking about some stuff and it just so happens to remind me of Beverly and Jean-Luc's relationship… or lack of that is.
By the way I know that this is my first Beverly/Picard thing posted here but I'm a long time writer and I hope to have a rather long fan fic story up here by November, not that anyone needed to know that, but anyhow, here is the poem. sorry
As I stand here tonight staring out at the stars
My thoughts are lost on you.
I ponder our friendship deeply
Wondering if you ponder it too.
In a universe full of infinite choices
And the ones we make choose our paths
How hard could it be to just say those words?
But I know once they're said I cannot take them back.
Our friendship is the most important thing to me.
It's what keeps me alive and what makes me breath.
So to lose it would be hell,
An eternal damnation that I have never felt.
Yet I want to move forward with you
But, here I wonder which of these is true:
Do you feel the way I do?
Or am I playing the part of a fool?
Too many years, too many memories
Only one gamble, will I risk it all?
The dice are now set and the cards are now played.
Oh what a great cost that I have paid!
