Before I start this story, I'd just like to mention that I might not finish it for some time... but feel free to read the first part. Some good reviews just might be the incentive I need to finish.
"I am very sorry that I have brought you all here, under the pretense of a game. You must understand, I have no choice. Each month, I call a group to his home, in the same way I have called you all. Though, young ones, you were bright to come, the ones that refused have already lost their lives."
A man with a pale white face stands in the front of an old fashioned room, with many different people sitting along round tables, all facing the pale man. A murmuring spreads across the room, faces go pale with fright, others laugh lightly as if they imagine that this man is only furthering the 'game' that they came to participate in. There is one girl, sitting in a corner wearing a white dress. Her face matches her dress. She does not listen to the man's words. She has heard this speech before.
A man appears behind her chair. His figure is one of the best built swimmers, his red eyes dance with amusement. "The crowd is larger this time, little Rina. You'll have a harder time winning this year."
"Why do you keep calling me back? None of the other winners are forced to return like this."
He smiles. "Because, little Rina, you are far too amusing to forget. The other winners simply get lucky."
Tears flow down her cheeks. "I don't want to be here anymore. I don't want to see anymore death. Please!"
"You're causing a scene, little one. You know how I hate that."
"You wanna kill me? Fine! Get it over with, you keep calling me here, it's bound to happen eventually."
"Now, now, don't be so quick to leap into the arms of death. Besides, you know the rules, no killing until the second day."
"I don't wanna be toyed with anymore! Why do you do this?"
"Because life is simply no fun without the hunt! It's become far too easy to catch most of these weak humans. The smart ones rarely take the game seriously until it's far too late, and the dumb ones, well, you know, you've seen it all before. Now, it's time for me to get prepared for my entrance. You know how I like to show off." He disappears.
The man at the front of the room still goes on with his speech. "You all have your own rooms to sleep in, they are equipped with alarm clocks, and I would advise that you set them. The Master will begin at eight o'clock sharp, whether you are awake or not."
A boy in his late teens raises his voice to ask a question. "Hey! How do we win this game, huh? What, is there something we've gotta find? Do we have to escape the castle?"
"The end to this game, Blaine, comes only when the last person stands."
