Disclaimer: I wrote this poem based on L.M. Montgomery's "Rilla of Ingleside"

Author's note: This is my first attempt at a poem. I couldn't sleep last night until I wrote it down so here it is.

A mother's sons went across the sea,

A different fate to meet each of the three.

The eldest went with thoughts of fun,

But the spirit left before the war was done.

The second went to conquer a fear,

Despite the pleas of those he held dear.

The youngest went to do his duty,

To help protect his beloved country.

The eldest went missing after he was shot,

His mother knew he was alive though others said not.

The second one left but never came home,

His body is in France, but his spirit still roams.

The last managed to come home unharmed.

He came back to his mother's arms

The mother's hopes for the eldest came true,

When the news came that he had pulled through.

Two came back to their mother's joy,

But she will never forget her dear lost boy.

A/N: Well I couldn't get it off my mind so I hope you like it enough to review.
