Never Too Late

It seems like yesterday that they were together, in the park, taking pictures of each other, of them together. He called it "making memories", in case he would disappear one day, he didn't want to have nothing with him when he leaves. Soubi never objected to the things he wanted to do, or did, or planed to do. He was always there, giving him support, hopes, in a way that he couldn't understand. It was too complex anyway, so he dismissed the whole thing as "an order from Seimei".

He hated it when Soubi didn't answer the questions he desperately needed to know. Sometimes he would ask Soubi, childishly, to never show his face to him again. But he always ended up being the one phoning him, longing to see that pair of amethyst eyes. There were times he stayed up all night long, staring pointlessly, stupidly at the white ceiling, thinking about what Soubi was doing, where he was, and how was he. And once again, he dismissed the feeling as "stupid".

The first time Soubi said "Suki dayo, Ritsuka", his heart pounded rapidly, crazily, as if it was going to explode soon, and his burning cheeks that tinged red, and for the first time, he felt complete, treasured…wanted. "Did Seimei tell you to say that?" The words flowed out of his mouth, before he even had the time to think about what he was going to say. They sounded harsh, cold, and demanding. He regretted asking it the moment it came out of his mouth, but he was too proud, too ignorant to take it back, to apologize. Soubi merely smiled at him, understanding, maturity, but with a hint of sadness reflecting in his eyes.

He didn't understand the meaning of love back then, he didn't understand Soubi, the reason for his actions, and his way of expressing himself. He thought he had an answer for everything, for everything Soubi did and said. Every child has to go through that childish, ignorant time, to reach adolescence and eventually, adulthood. He thought Soubi was ordered to say "Suki dayo", that everything Soubi did for him was ordered by Seimei, but he was wrong…

It took him ten years to figure that out, but he found the answer. He might've stumbled, fell, and confused on his way, but he got back onto his feet again, and followed the light emitted from his heart. The road to realization, to finding the real answer was long, but he reached the destination eventually and got the answer he sought for.

He wraps the scarf around his neck tightly, olive-drab eyes gazing at the door knob. He reaches out a hand, slowly, hesitating. Sighing softly, a small puff is emitted. The chilly, harsh November blows mercilessly, cutting through his exposed skin as it makes contact with it.

The door opens, olive-drab meets amethyst, the same gentle, understanding smile playing on Soubi's lips. Ritsuka whipers softly, "tadaima. (I'm home)"

A/N: lolz, as you can see, I was hyperactive and crazy when I wrote this drabble. It is probably longer than most of the drabbles I have written so far XD Don't expect the lazy Aisaki to write long stories, I had enough with it. Anyway, I didn't watch a lot of Loveless episodes, and it would be nice if someone can tell me what exactly is Ritsuka searching for? XD When I wrote this drabble, I was unsure of Ritsuka's feelings and of what he was really looking for, so I didn't go too deep into the character's feelings.

Excuse the grammar, spelling mistakes and typos, like I said before, still working hard not to jump tenses. XD ja ne
