If you've read "Being Seifer Almasy", that's where this came from. If you haven't, you should.

I own nothing except a couple old VW's and an opinionated cat. That's all anybody who sued me would get.

The Other Side

What's my life like? Well, the life of a SeeD instructor blows. I mean really – I'm teaching students my age! It'd be different if I was teaching younger kids, but no. Cid has me teaching 'kids' I should be partying with! I'm sure he has his reasons, but I wish I knew what they were…

Now, I do enjoy a good party – loud music, alcohol, people passed out or making out everywhere – never would have guessed, huh? Well, I am only 18, instructor or not. Besides, parties means everybody with their hair down. Even Squall – I've seen it.

sigh That poor boy – that beautiful face, a truly fabulous body, and all that leather – and he's still a virgin. Damn shame, isn't it? I think he's waiting for marriage (how old fashioned, right?), but I'm not sure to who. I mean, I know he and Rinoa had a nice little romantic relationship, but I doubt if she's "The One".

Too bad for her, because I know she's really crazy about Squall. And I think Rinoa's good for him. She's cute, a little on the 'fluffbunny' side, but overall she's a good kid. Her idealism is infectious (to the guys, anyway), and if she'd learn a little better planning, she could probably convince people to hand over the world. Good thing she's not that organized, eh?

Which brings us around to Selphie – Mistress of Organization. She could organize the Garden Festival with just five gil, a piece of string, and a couple of draftees. She just goes full tilt, not taking no for an answer or shit from anyone. She just has this "can't fix it, can't change it, fuck it" attitude. If I didn't know better, some days I'd swear she was on drugs. But that's just the way Selphie is, especially around Irvine. And between the two of them, how could you not smile?

Now Irvine – I really don't see him let loose much. He says he won't do it around me because I 'see' too much. What deep dark secret does he think I'll find? His insecurity is hardly a secret if you take a good look. Eyes covered by his hat or his hair, duster covering what I'm sure is a perfect body – and the guns, distance weapons so you don't get too close. Selphie is the only one allowed near our seemingly lecherous Mr. Kinneas. Which is too bad, really, even though I prefer a little more confidence in my men.

Oh, I agree – they don't seem to come more confident than Seifer. And it's not totally undeserved. He really is very good and quite handsome. Why am I not trying to hook up with him? Our interests are elsewhere. His is with Matron, from a respectful distance, of course. After all, she is married to Cid. And for whatever reason, Seifer respects Cid. Never guessed that, did you?

Huh? Oh, my interests? Well, you'll probably laugh. But I've developed quite a thing for Zell after all the traveling we've done together. He is one of the kindest people I know, and he's a bit of a clown. He's kinda like Selphie, trying to keep everyone charged up. I like that he's easy to read – if he doesn't tell you what he's thinking, it's written all over his face. And a man with a tattoo on his face is familiar with a little pain to a good end.

What, I'm not what you expected? Well, what can I say – the Quistis Trepe you see in the game is work mode. I can relax, you just won't see much of it around so many of my former students.
