Missing

by Sk8er7

Please, please forgive me,

But I won't be home again.

Takako Shimizu looked up at the apartment building with sad eyes.

Maybe someday you'll look up,

And, barely conscious, you'll say to no one

"Isn't something missing?"

She looked away and sat on her swing, her eyes sad.

You won't cry for my absence, I know.

You forgot me long ago.

'He locked the door. And put the chain on. That means that he forgot that I was coming home completely,' She had told him.

Am I that unimportant?

Am I so unsignificant?

She remembered her husband well; they hadn't made love in years. Maybe that was when they had lost it.

Isn't something missing?

Isn't someone missing me?

Her husband had not even sent out a search crew, she noticed. He forgot all about her and continued to live a happy life.

Even though I'm the sacrifice,

You won't try for me, not now.

He loved her now. She was not real. She was fake; always obeying his command. She was a servant. A tool for his enjoyment. Yet he forgot that.

Though I'd die to know you love me,

I'm all alone.

Isn't someone missing me?

Takako loved him with all her heart. And in return, he forgot about her and locked the door.

Please, please forgive me.

But I won't be home again.

She knew that she would probably never return to that building again. She could never love him again; and neither he to her.

I know what you do to yourself.

I breathe deep and cry out:

"Isn't something missing?

Isn't someone missing me?"

She looked up at the dark and starry sky. Hoping, just hoping, that someone remembered her existence; that her whole life wouldn't be replaced by her.

Even though I'm the sacrifice,

You won't try for me, not now.

It was too late. Yet she did not move from her spot. She stayed there, as it was her sanctuary. What reason did she have to stay?

Though I'd die to know you love me,

I'm all alone.

Isn't someone missing me?

Loving that man had been a mistake. And she was now paying the price.

And if I bleed, I'll bleed,

Knowing you don't care.

Tears fell from her eyes. No one cared. No one realized that she was no longer there. She was a forgotten soul.

And if I sleep just to dream of you

And wake without you there,

He was always on her mind. When she lost consciousness, she would dream of him. She always knew that he would never be there when she woke up.

Isn't something missing?

Isn't something...

Nothing mattered anymore. She hada job that he had wanted her to take; she had no place to live. Why bother with life?

Even though I'm the sacrifice,

You won't try for me, not now.

He wasn't a good husband. He once was, but she could barely remember those times. Such happiness in their lives, until she arrived.

Though I'd die to know you love me,

I'm all alone.

She was alone; she would always be alone. This was her destiny.

Isn't something missing?

Isn't someone missing me?

She looked up, her tear stained eyes widened to see the young man. He smiled at her and sat down beside her. She did nothing as they sat in silence and enjoyed the moment.
