A Letter from Lily to James
Dear James,
I don't even know why I'm writing this. It's Christmas Eve and for some very strange reason, I just can't get you out of my mind.
If you were still your former, arrogant, pricky and pratty self, you would smirk and say, "I know why you can't think of anything but me. You love me, Evans, admit it already". The strange thing is that I can't help but wonder why you are so different this year. Perhaps it was the loss of your parents, or perhaps it was the huge responsibilities that were thrust upon you by Dumbledore and your parents. I just find myself wishing that if you did have to become the person you are now, that it hadn't been because your parents were murdered or because the world seemed against you. I wish you hadn't changed because now, you hardly ever smile, you never have a mischievous twinkle in your eyes, and you hardly bug the Slytherins anymore. You're not even James anymore.
What happened to sixteen year old prick, the bullying toe rag that used to ask me out 3 or 4 times a day? What happened to the boy who would jump at a chance to talk to me, or jump at a chance to annoy the Slytherins beyond hell? What happened the boy who refused to grow up and would gladly go streaking with his best mate in the middle of the day? What happened to the boy who refused to give up on me, for anything?
James, the basic point of writing this is that I'm really worried about you. You are always in a world of your own, and you spend so much time there that you don't seem to have time for any of us, not even Sirius! I am going to be really selfish at this point. I really miss you always annoying me and asking me out. I really miss that prick making fun of everyone but me, the prick who would do the sweetest things for me and always blush at the slightest sign of flirting from me.
James, I'm going to be even more selfish now. If you love me, at all, or if you ever did, then come back. Talk to us, your friends, and just stop living in a fantasy. Please? Come back, and you will find a humungous group waiting for you with their arms open, just waiting. All you have to do is look and you will find them...along with a red-haired, green-eyed witch waiting with the key to her heart. Please don't leave her waiting forever, because she will wait for that long, if that is long as it takes you come.
Love forever, Lily.
