Author's Note: This is just a little something that came to mind while I was out at Mundare for a slo-pitch tournament. We were up late the night before the main game day watching the sky. It was so beautiful. I really miss living in the country. Oh, and we got to see the Northern Lights. They danced for hours, all across the sky. It was great.
Stars
Yuusuke bit back a sigh as he looked at the night sky. He could barely see the stars and the sky was not very dark, lit up by the glow of the city.
Stupid city, blocking his stargazing!
Yuusuke bit back a growl this time. He was really starting to hate the city, or at least all the ningen ones. Ever since he had come in his inheiratance of his youkai blood he had noticed a slight change in the ways that he saw the world.
He noticed the pollution in the air, he noticed how truly short a ningen life was, he noticed so much more and it was angering him.
The city was such a dirty place. It always took seeing from the other side of the fence to see that it wasn't so great.
He longed to return to the Makai or even Genkai's place, but he knew that neither were an option for him. Genkai had kicked him out, forbidding him to return unless he, quote 'Figured out what the hell he wanted' un quote. And he couldn't leave for the Makai, his Mother needed him, now more than ever. Her partying ways were going to be the end of her, Yuusuke was sure of it. And it didn't really help that the doctor confirmed what Yuusuke feared.
All of her drinking had damaged her liver and her kidneys. And that wasn't the only thing that was wrong with her. She had developed a nasty lingering cough that wasn't going away. He feared that it was something more than a stubborn cold.
Stupid woman, she didn't even care. She was still going strong as ever, smoking and drinking like it was her first night partying.
But...she was still his Mother, she had helped to shape him into the person that he was today. She had instilled a sense of right and wrong into him, warped as it may be.
He took a drag of the smoke that was between his fingers and flicked it towards the ground. The bright city lights allowed him to watch the but fall to the cemet below.
Yuusuke gave one last look at the sky and scowled before he turned and jumped down from the roof onto the balcony of his mother's apartment.
Stupid stars.
