We won, Eowyn.

By- Larien

A/N- Eomer grieves after finding his sister in the fields of Pelenor. It appears as though her life hangs by a thread and his sorrow is deep and troubling. Inspired during the scene in the Healing House. Please review.

Thank you to Patty and Deandra for editing it. It helped a lot and I appreciate it. Le hannon.

With a single sweep of my eyes

I see my very being flashed before me

In your frail body lying so still

Alone amidst the shards of soldiers

Surely one so fair was not struck down

For who could ever lay a sword to the golden head

Of one so innocent

Yet here you lay

Unmoving

I feel as though my very insides have dropped out of me

I scream both in and out

Come back Eowyn

My sister is not dead

She cannot be

I never got to say good bye

Never got to stop her

I couldn't protect like a brother should

I have failed you and led you to this

A war field of destruction

This cannot be real

Nothing so beautiful can be destroyed

With a single blow

All is hazy now as I hold your body

Clad in armor meant for man

Whose own intentions brought you here

To glory and honor

May you find them wherever you are

I only hope you return to tell of it

For I will not let you leave for good

I have no honor in looking at your lifeless face

No valor in gazing at purity lost

My voice continues to scream

My lungs ache for fresh air

But they are choked with grief intermingled with smoke

The smoke that has smitten our foes

We won Eowyn

We need not hide our faces anymore

You have achieved your victory

Now hear my wails that cascade this barren land

And do not leave me to mourn you

As I have done so many others

Please, sister, do not leave

Don't hide forever in the shadows of the dead

For I was blind to you once

Let me again see you smile

A hope to light any man's heart

Do not say this is where you end

In the battle hands of man

Who so obliviously pushed you aside

You are a fighter

Now fight for life

For me

We won, Eowyn

Come celebrate with me in the halls

Sleep no longer

Breathe deep the fresh air and see your honor

Fight Eowyn

For the world is hazy

And I cannot hold you forever

The world has changed Eowyn

You don't need to hide behind a helmet

If you would only open your eyes to see

Oh please look

Look at our victory

Don't turn away like the trees

Or fade as the sun does

Don't leave me to tears that have escaped

Wails that aren't controllable

We won Eowyn

Come back to me

Don't leave me to hold you forever

Just tell me it's all right

And home we depart

Where others wait your presence

Don't leave them waiting

Don't leave me here

We won Eowyn
