Disclaimer: I am resigned to owning nothing even remotely related to The West Wing. I am distressed by this of course, but slowly I am coming to terms with it via an experimental 12 step program.

A/N: Review, please. I'm desperate for anything even approaching feedback.

"I wanted a green minivan." Donna slurred from her chair in the corner.

"What the hell?" Josh said, turning his head to look at her. The two were positioned in the back of the office, watching the CNN pundits dissect Matthew Santos's chances come November. The Convention had wrapped up hours ago: the janitors had swept up the confetti, the candidates were asleep, and Josh and Donna were the only people still in the office.

"I wanted a green minivan, with seat warmers, and lots of cup holders, and a five CD player and remote access."

"O…kay." Josh replied, still confused.

"All the cool moms drive Minivans Josh, don't you know that?" Donna said, twirling her blond hair around her finger. With a pang, Josh realised how much shorter her hair had gotten over the years. He missed the long blond hair and the perky girl that went with it.

"And you wanted a green one?" He asked, not understanding, but willing to play along.

"Yep."

"Donna, you don't have any kids to drive around in a minivan, unless you abduct all the campaign volunteers."

"I wanted them too."

"Annoying volunteers?" Josh smirked at her. How long had it been since he'd smirked at someone?

"Kids." Donna said, finally looking straight at him. Josh fell silent. "I thought that I'd have them by now. I'm thirty years old. Even after we got elected, I always thought that somehow I'd have a family by now."

"And a minivan?" Josh said quietly, maintaining eye contact.

"Yeah." She whispered back.

"I always wanted a Volvo." Josh said, blushing.

"A Volvo? The Super Swedish Safety Car?" Donna said, apparently, in her drunken state, amused by her alliteration.

"Hey, it's a good family car." He said defensively.

"It's just, I never pictured you in a Volvo. You seemed much more like an SUV kind of guy. Especially last fall with the whole totalling the little ---"

"Okay, yes, we all remember the incident." Josh said.

"Well then, you can take the kids to school in the Volvo on your way to work while I take them to soccer practice in the green Minivan." Donna said.

Josh starred at her, digesting what she'd just said. Admittedly, he'd had several beers and his senses were slightly dulled, but he was pretty sure that she'd just been talking about their kids, as in his and hers, together, which made him grin more widely than usual.

"Did I just say that?" Donna said, starring at him, her eyes wide and scarred.

"Yep." Josh grinned.

"Okay then." She said, lowering her head into her arms.

"But, just to be clear, you'd be driving them to baseball practice."

"What?" She raised her head slightly.

"No child of ours is playing soccer. Baseball or bust." Wow. Child of ours.

"What if they don't like sports?"

"Debate team, obviously. They'll need to learn to bring the smack down."

"You'll have them on Capital Beat before they're ten."

"Damn straight."

"They'd kick butt."

"With our verbal skills, how could they not?" By now the two were smiling stupidly at one-another, caught up in the dream of perfect children. Their gaze was interrupted by the sound of the door opening and the appearance of Will.

"It's four in the morning. What the hell are you two doing up?" He asked.

"Discussing the future of the Democratic Party." Josh said, smirking across at Donna.
