Disclaimer: Me no own CATS.

Dedicate: Well, this is the first CATS fic I'm posting on here, so I'd like to dedicate it to Ekwy. Ekwy, is you even read this(The Everlasting Cat knows if anybody will...), this is Eponine, who attends the OFUC. Which, however hilarious and goofy, is actually rather helpful.

Well, here goes...

She's Leaving Home

Midnight. Not a sound from the pavement.

One black-and gold tortiseshell queen sits on a chain-link fence, which reflects the light of the full moon, suspended in the sky, glowing almost eerily. One, alone, solo, watching the moon.

Her heartis torn: do they love me here? Does he love me? She does not dare to say his name, not even his title, no, not even 'The Mystery Cat'. She fears him...but at the same time the thought of him stirs something deep in her heart and she is drawn to the tom who had captured her heart, and, later, broken it, seasons ago.

"Do I stay or do I go?" she said aloud. "How do I know how they would feel if I left...what do I do?" One single, pearly tear slides down her lovely face and splashes on the fence, which still shinessilverin the luminous glow of that celestial orb, high in the sky. She stares at the moon, as though she expects it to answer her, as though it will reassure her somehow.

Maybe it does reassure her.

She bends her head, as though to hide her tears from somebody...from the world? Because she has to keep a guise of being strong, she knows, even ifthat's not how she feels. Even if there's nobody around...she knows she must show the world a strong face, and'strong' does not account for tears.

Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone.

The moon appears to mock her tears, and the stars, diamonds on black velvet, shine too brightly to encourage any melancholy. She looks over her shoulder at the Junkyard- her home, her friends, her sister- and she looks out upon the sleeping city of London. The city slumbers peacefully, indeed, and they know nothing of her personal battle, nor would they care. Every emotional battle, in a world as big as this, is like one drop in a flood, and it is soon swallowed up into the darkness and the shadows of the unknown.

She bites her lip, still unable to decide, and this time she does not hold back her tears. She lets them flow down her face like a stream, lets them wash away all her fear, and she has decided. She cannot pull away from her heart's true home. With her natural feline grace, she leaps quietly off of the fence , and casting one last look overher shoulder, she has gone. She is so stealthy, walking on her padded feet, that no-one hears.

She herself, too, has been swallowed up into the unknown.
