((Ok This poem is a basic summary of The Fellowship of the Ring. I did it as a free poem which means it doesn't necessarily rhyme or anything. I'm thinking of doing two more poems for The Two Towers. It's not really good but I'll put it up anyway))

Free Poem – The Fellowship of the Ring – 4/11/05

In the scenic land of the Shire,

Our story did begin.

About a tiny, tiny hobbit,

And an evil ring.

He set out of the Shire,

As the wizard, Gandalf, bid him.

He went with friends, Sam and Merry,

And that fool, Peregrin Took.

The Nazgul they did evade,

And to Bree they made good time.

There they met Strider, man of many names,

And set out to make for Rivendell.

Strider led them through the woods,

To Weathertop, where they did rest.

Here the Nazgul did attack,

And stabbed poor Frodo in the shoulder.

The poison on the Nazgul's blade

Left Frodo feeling poor.

Though Strider was skilled as a healer,

This was beyond his skill to heal.

Frodo made a speedy journey

To the land of Rivendell.

There Lord Elrond healed him quickly,

Though the would never fully heal

Soon council was held,

About Frodo's magic ring.

A Fellowship soon was formed,

To aid Frodo in destroying it

They set out for the black lands,

But got caught on Carahadras

They went instead through Moria

Where they lost Gandalf the Grey

Strider led the crew

To the beauteous Lothlorien

There Lady Galadriel gave them gifts

And sent them down the river

Orcs attacked them while they rested

And Frodo decided to slip off to Mordor alone

But even he could not dissuade Sam

From wanting to come along

Boromir died in the fray

Pierced by many arrows

Merry and Pippin were taken

By the orcs as captives

The three remaining members

Of the broken fellowship

Knew they could not help Frodo and Sam

So they went to save Merry and Pippin instead

And so ends the first of three parts

In this story, The Lord of the Rings.
