Sara along with every other person in the lab knew about Sofia and Grissom's dinner together. The fact that it had taken place just a week after she had told Grissom about her family was an added sting. Apparently, he knew what to do about "this" thing with Sofia.

Was she bitter? A little. She had deluded herself into thinking that he wanted to date her but was worried about the age difference or even the work issues. She knew now that had nothing to do with it. Sofia was about the same age as her and they were both subordinates to Grissom. She may not be worth the risk but Sofia was.

She wonders now if he would bother sending another plant if she handed in the letter of resignation she had lying on her desk. Months ago, she had written it up but she had been holding on to the shreds of hope she had left. There would be no more since I met you's from Grissom, she knew. Grissom had Sofia now. He no longer would bother with her.

She accepted the fact that they would never be together. She was not the one, Sofia was. Even though she was jealous of Sofia's ability to get a dinner out of Grissom (something she had been trying to get for five years) she respected her as a CSI. Sofia was good at her job, even though her tendency to talk to herself was a little strange.

She promised herself each night, as she got ready for work, that it wouldn't be much longer. That soon she would hand in her letter and move on. The only way to get on with her life was to get out of Las Vegas. Her feelings for her boss wouldn't dictate her actions any longer once she was away from him. She never handed in the letter though.

She would miss training Greg. She would miss arguing with Hodges. She would miss Brass's father like quality. She would miss joking around with Warrick and Nick. She would miss just watching Grissom when he didn't know she was looking. She would miss Catherine, even though she knew the other woman hated her. She would never be able to leave it all.

Watching Sofia and Grissom talking with their heads bent closely, watching them steal glances at each other, or watching the small smiles they gave each other may hurt her, but she would still never be able to leave.
