Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out this story! I hope to make many more chapters. Lots of adventures planned ahead!

Calm.

Dark.

Why was it dark?

Oh, my eyes are closed.

I'm sleeping.

Well, not anymore...

This internal argument stirred my conscience from a dreamless sleep. I stretched my arms out over my head and froze. Immediately, I could tell something was wrong. I wasn't in bed, but instead on the ground.

Outside.

In a field.

I sat upright too fast and my head throbbed in protest. Cradling my sore skull in pain I groaned.

Okay, one step at a time.

I took deep breaths and waited for the throbbing to subside.

I looked down at my body to see I was clad in strange clothes. I seemed to be wearing a tunic and boots. Next I looked up and saw a sea of grass. In both directions past that was…more grass.

Finally rising to my feet, I took a full surveying view of my surroundings. The horizon had no clear break, it just went on and on as far as the sky could reach.

"Well feet, you pick the way," and with that impulsive reaction I took off walking towards the rising sun.

As I walked for a while in silence I thought about how the land felt achingly familiar...but nothing was coming to mind. No names, words or landmarks manifested in memory. I couldn't recall a single thing.

I stopped and took a longer examination of my attire.

The white tunic had no sleeves, and a red inverted cross ran down the middle. Loose black pants underneath, and boots that stopped just above the ankle. I bent down to tuck the long pant legs into the boots and something swung forward, smacking my nose. I grasped it blindly and craned my neck to look down at a bulky necklace. Taking it off cautiously, I held it out in front of my face with one hand and I found that it was shaped like a heart. It seemed to be made of glass, was glowing softly, and felt warm to the touch.

Somehow just holding in my hands made me feel at ease. I felt...not alone? If that made any sense. It must have been important to me, so I put it back on.

I wondered what kind of person I was, to have found myself in such an odd predicament. I squinted into the distance and there seemed to be some sort of dark mass far off in the horizon, so my feet and I once again took off.

My body felt strong and healthy, at least. And my clothes were clean, as mysterious as they were. I continued to ponder the situation.

Surely I hadn't been kidnapped and abandoned in a field?

Maybe I was a drunkard and blacked out last night.

That would explain the throbbing headache.

But it doesn't explain the amnesia, or lack of alcoholic smell about my person.

Several more minutes of walking had passed before any sign of other life made itself known. Eventually an inhuman sound bellowed out from a distance behind me.

Slowly turning around, I saw a terrible creature staring right at me. It's hulking form looming formidably and I was stuck frozen in place as it began to charge at me.

Okay that's the first chapter! Sorry it's so short. I'm just trying to get the ball rolling with this story.

Until next time!
