Hey guys, Kurama here with another story that's focused on a what-if in Digimon Adventure (1999). Set in the battle against VenomMyotismon, what if the digidestined's Digimons died against the notorious villain?

So let's begin this chapter.
Summary: During the final battle with VenomMyotismon, Tai and Matt miss the chance to digivolve their Digimon so the digidestined pay the price. Is this the end or a new beginning?

2August 1999, Odaiba Town, 10:45 AM
This wasn't supposed to happen but it did.
'We failed and it's all because of me. If I was a better leader then none of this would've ever happened.'Tai thought as the death of MetalGreymon was still fresh in his mind.
The plan was simple, have Angemon and Angewomon shoot arrows at Tai and Matt to make their Digimon digivolve but at the last second, VenomMyotismon jumped in front of them and then, he digivolved into a freak of nature.
Something that was not meant to be understood but here it was, standing there and wrecking havoc upon the human world.
All because of that freak of nature himself wanted power and now look where he and what he's doing right now.
He digivolve into NeoMyotismon and he's destroying everything in Tokyo.
They are crying because their partners have died at the hands of NeoMyotismon and now, there's nothing that they can do.
"Please Palmon, come back to me!" Mimi shouts while crying in agony after losing her partner.
"Mimi, wait a minute! We can use our crests along with our digivices!" Izzy says after wiping his tears away.
"But how? We can't do anything to stop NeoMyotismon!" Joey says to his friend while the others wipes their tears away and now, they have a look of determination knowing that their partners are gone.
Tai's still thinking about his partner and Matt as well.
"Hey Tai and Matt, I have an idea! We can use our crests along with our digivices but I don't know if it's going to work." Izzy says to the leader of Digidestined and his face is changed into a determined look.
"You sure it's gonna work Izzy?" Matt asks the nerd and everyone looks at him.
"We never did that before. Let's do this!" Izzy says to his friends and they close their eyes and press their hands on their digivices along with their tags before saying their crest's name and they start to glow.
The Digidestined opens their eyes and their partners start to come from the digivices but it feels different.
"Courage!" Tai shouts before screaming at the top of his lungs and Agumon appears from the orange-blue digivice.
"Agumon warp-digivolve to Wargreymon!" Wargreymon shouts after warp-digivolution from his rookie form.
"Friendship!" Matt shouts before screaming at the top of his lungs and Gabumon appears from the blue-silver digivice.
"Gabumon warp-digivolve to MetalGarurumon!" MetalGarurumon shouts after warp-digivolution from his rookie form.
"Love!" Sora shouts before screaming at the top of her lungs and Biyomon appears from the red-gold digivice.
"Biyomon warp-digivolve to Phoenixmon!" Phoenixmon shouts after warp-digivolution from her rookie form.
"Sincerity!" Mimi shouts before screaming at the top of his lungs and Palmon appears from the green-orange digivice.
"Palmon warp-digivolve to Rosemon!" Rosemon shouts after warp-digivolution from her rookie form.
"Knowledge!" Izzy shouts before screaming at the top of his lungs and Tentomon appears from the purple-maroon digivice.
"Tentomon warp-digivolve to HerculesKabuterimon!" HerculesKabuterimon shouts after warp-digivolution from his rookie form.
"Reliability!" Joey shouts before screaming at the top of his lungs and Gomamon appears from the dark gray-indigo digivice.
"Gomamon warp-digivolve to Vikemon!" Vikemon shouts after warp-digivolution from his rookie form.
"Hope!" T.K. shouts before screaming at the top of his lungs and Patamon appears from the light/yellow-turquoise digivice.
"Patamon warp-digivolve to Seraphimon!" Seraphimon shouts after warp-digivolution from his rookie form.
"Light!" Kari shouts before screaming at the top of her lungs and Gatomon appears from the pink-white digivice.
"Gatomon warp-digivolve to Ophanimon!" Ophanimon shouts after warp-digivolution from her rookie form.
The mega-level Digimon look at each other than see their partners who are crying of joy after bringing their friends back.
"Wargreymon, is that really you?" Tai asks his friend before he starts to cry like a kid and hug him tightly.
Wargreymon look at his partner who stops crying
"Yeah Tai, it's me and now, I'm angry." Wargreymon says before shifting his head to look at his enemy with a darker look on his face.
The Digidestined and their partners look at NeoMyotismon with rage from seeing citizens running in fear by the giant vampire.
"Okay guys, let's finish this battle once and for all!" The goggle-head says to his friends before running with them
"Yeah!" The rest of the Digidestined says to their leader and they are now ready for the battle against their enemy that's terracing the city.
NeoMyotismon see that the Digidestined and their partners are coming at him with everything they've got now.
'No! Impossible! I killed all of those pathetic vermin and they digivolve into their mega levels?! How is this possible?! It does not matter now, I killed them once and I'll do it again to ensure my victory in this world and the Digital world and create a world, a new world made of darkness. No, two worlds made of darkness. Yes, the two worlds will soon be mine!' NeoMyotismon thought to himself as he sees the Digidestined with mega-level Digimon before thinking that he could rule two worlds transform into two worlds of true darkness
Tai and his partner along with their teams find NeoMyotismon who's looking down on all of them and ready to kill all of them and he will usher a new world made of darkness.
"NeoMytoismon! You're fighting with us!" Tai shouts at the vampire who killed Gatomon's partner, Wizardmon.
"Yeah! We're not gonna let you get away with this any longer!" Matt shouts in anger at the full-powered vampire.
The rest of the Digidestined are here to fight NeoMyotismon.
"Foolish children! Do you think you can defeat me with your partners? I'm the strongest and I will destroy you all!" NeoMyotismon says to the eight children but an attack from the Digidestined's partners landed a hit on the vampire.
"Not if we finish you off first you disgusting bat!" Wargreymon shouts back at the newly-powered vampire and his team look at their enemy with anger and rage as they see that NeoMyotismon was about to destroy a skyscraper, hoping that it will kill everyone in it.
The mega-level digimons starts to charge their ultimate attacks NeoMyotismon to make sure he stays gone and his data fades away.
"Okay guys, make him pay for what he has done in the real world and the digital world!" Tai and his friends shout at their partners as they're done charging their ultimate attacks and they're now ready to fire it at the undead digimon.
"Terra force!"
"Starlight explosion!"
"Metal wolf claw!"
"Mega electro shocker!"
"Rose rapier!"
Arctic blizzard!"
"Strike of the seven stars!"
"Eden's javelin!"
The combination of attacks were simply too strong for VenomMyotismon to counter and to make sure of it, the Chosen Digimon kept firing until the only thing that remained of the dark Digimon was his data.
The battle was finally over but even if they came back, Tai and others knew that things would never be the same.
Not after today because today marks the first time the Digidestined lost against a Mega level Digimon.
