The Pain of Future Wrongs – Chapter 2
"Piper, you have to eat something," Paige tried once again as she looked at her sister's untouched plate of food.
"Not hungry," Piper answered with little emotion.
"You still need to eat," Phoebe continued. "It'll be bad for you and the baby if you don't eat."
"I really don't want to," Piper answered with a tired voice. She hadn't slept at all since her last encounter with Chris and this lack of sleep was beginning to wear on her.
"Piper..." Paige began but was cut-off when a blue swirl of lights appeared.
"Leo? What are you doing here?" Phoebe asked, genuinely surprised.
"I came to warn you about some strange happenings," Leo began.
"What do you mean by strange happenings?"
"The Elders have sensed a powerful shift in the balance of power between good and evil."
"Oookay...meaning?" Phoebe asked, signaling Leo to elaborate.
"Meaning that all of a sudden, a lot of evil has suddenly disappeared."
"And that's supposed to be a bad thing?" Paige wondered aloud, thoroughly confused.
"Well, not really, but you should still be careful," Leo explained. "We don't even know what it is that's causing this sudden shift in power. You don't want to be caught off-guard."
"Thanks for the heads-up," Paige replied.
Then, as if noticing that Piper was in the room for the first time, a concerned look made its way to Leo's face. "Piper, are you feeling okay? You don't look so good."
"Actually," Piper began as she tried to figure out a way to tell Leo the news about Chris. "Well, how should I put this..."
"Piper, I'm sorry, but the Elders are calling so I have to get back. Hold that thought and we can continue next time, okay?" Before Piper could respond, Leo had disappeared. Sighing, Piper resumed staring out the window.

It was later in the day that Phoebe decided to try and look for Chris. After yesterday's confrontation, she was worried about how Chris was coping. Paige was given the task of looking after Paige.
For some reason, Phoebe found herself at P3. "Why did I come here?" she asked herself. "As if Chris is going to be sitting in his room waiting for me to come find him!" she chided. "But since I'm here, I might as well go and check it out quickly," rationalizing as she entered the club.
To her surprise, she found Chris lying on the couch in the back room, staring into nothingness. If Phoebe thought that Piper didn't look good this morning, Chris looked ten times worse. His hair disheveled, dark circles around his eyes, this Chris looked at least ten years older than the one she saw yesterday. "Chris?" she called out hesitantly. When she got no response, she pulled a chair close to the couch and sat down.
Chris shifted his body so that his back was facing Phoebe and decided to stare at the wall instead.
"Chris..." she began.
"Can you leave me alone?" the young Whitelighter pleaded.
"I can't say that I know exactly how you feel right now, but you need to give Piper some time."
Chris shifted once again and looked into Phoebe's eyes. "You really think time is going to change anything? I don't think so."
"This is hard for Piper, Chris. If you don't give her a chance, you wouldn't be being very fair to her."
At this, Chris sat up and glared at Phoebe. "Don't talk to me about being fair, Aunt Phoebe. You don't know that half of what I had to go through," he answered, his voice trembling as he tried to keep his emotions in check.
"Chris..."
"Forget it," Chris said as he stood up abruptly. "You won't understand anyways. None of you ever did," he added sadly as he walked towards the door.
"Chris, wait!" Phoebe called as she reached out to grab Chris' arms. Immediately, she was hit with a premonition.
~ Premonition begins ~
"Mom, it wasn't my fault!" a 17-year-old Chris protested.
"I've heard enough," Piper said angrily as she busied herself in the kitchen. "How many times do I have to tell you not to cause trouble at school, Chris? Why don't you ever listen?"
"You're the one that's not listening!" Chris yelled back as he shook with anger. "You never believe anything I tell you and all Wyatt has to do is utter one word and you believe everything!"
"If you were anything like your brother, I would have no reason not to believe you!"
At this point, another teenager ran into the kitchen. He looked younger than Chris, maybe by about three years or so. "Mom, it wasn't Chris' fault."
"Ryan, go back to doing your homework."
"But Mom," Ryan protested, "It really wasn't Chris' fault. It was Wyatt!"
Piper looked even angrier than before. "I can't believe you, Chris. Now you're manipulating your younger brother into lying for you? What's wrong with you?"
"I told you it wasn't my fault!!" Chris yelled angrily at Piper.
"Don't you ever talk to me with that attitude, young man! Is this the way to talk to your mother?" Piper warned.
"Well, maybe you should start treating me like your son first instead of some trash that you picked up off the street!"
SMACK!
Piper's hand connected with Chris' face with fury, but Chris steeled himself, refusing to cry out, refusing to let the pain affect him. The only thing that he could do was to orb out.
~ Premonition ends ~
Phoebe's face was ghost white, her hands trembling as she replayed the premonition in her head. She couldn't believe what she saw, but then again, her premonitions were not supposed to lie to her.
"See," Chris said softly. "I told you that you wouldn't understand." With a sad sigh, the young Whitelighter orbed away.
