The Pain of Future Wrongs – Chapter 17
Chris and Ryan orbed back to the manor after their heated discussion. Ryan was quiet, somewhat afraid that he would invoke Chris' anger again. Chris wasn't angry very often but when he was, Ryan knew best to stay out of the way.
"Where did you go?" Piper cried as she rushed forward to her sons, relief written all over her face.
"I'm fine, Mom," Chris answered in a very controlled voice, his brave exterior back in place.
Piper knew that her son was lying, but didn't want to push the matter at this point. "Do you want me to fix you something to eat?"
"No," Chris replied flatly. "I think I'm going to head to bed." With that, Chris headed to the basement, leaving everyone else still confused and worried.
With Chris gone, everyone turned their attention to Ryan, who suddenly looked very uncomfortable. "Uh, Mom, did you say something about making dinner?"
"Not so fast, young man," Piper answered. "Is there something you know about your older brother than we should know about?"
Ryan panicked, not sure of how to answer the question. "Uh, Mom...if I knew I would already be doing something to help Chris..."
Piper turned to Phoebe who shrugged in response. "I can't get a read off of him, Piper. I think he must have learned to block me out from Chris."
Piper sighed. "If I find out that you're hiding important information from me, Ryan, I will be one very angry witch," she warned before heading to the kitchen."

Krastick bowed before Wyatt's throne. "Stage one has been completed, Lord Wyatt. All is going according to plan."
Wyatt smiled and laughed evilly. "Excellent. Finally, I will get rid of my pesky brother once and for all."
Krastick joined in the laughter. "Yes, Lord Wyatt. Soon Christopher will be powerless to oppose you and we can destroy him."

Ryan played with his food as thoughts swirled in his head. He knew that keeping all these secrets would not help Chris. At the same time, he really didn't want to break his promise or go behind Chris' back.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Paige asked as she sat down.
"Nice try, Aunt Paige," Ryan answered with a weak smile. "I'm not taking the bait."
Paige pouted. "Well, can't say that I didn't at least try."
Ryan grinned at the comment before turning serious again. "Aunt Paige?"
"Yes Ryan?" Paige answered cheerfully, thinking that Ryan may have changed his mind.
"Why are you upset at Chris?"
Paige hesitated for a second before answering. "I'm not upset at him."
"Then why are you avoiding him?" When Paige didn't answer, Ryan continued. "He's really hurt, you know? Everyone always thinks that he is strong and unemotional, but that's only because he had to be that way in order to survive. It was the only way for him to raise me all by himself while trying to protect us from the forces of evil. He needs his family to help him, even if he tells you otherwise."
Paige stared at her hands as Ryan spoke. "Maybe I should go talk to him..." Paige got up from her chair and headed to the basement, where Chris was lying on his cot.
"Go away, Aunt Paige," Chris muttered as he heard her coming down the stairs.
"Can we talk?" Paige asked as she sat down on Ryan's cot.
"You didn't seem to want to talk yesterday," Chris shot back, as he turned to face the wall.
"Look, I'm sorry, Chris," Paige apologized. "Something happened the night before and it just shocked me." Chris didn't answer to the comment, so Paige decided to continue. "I had a horrible dream about something that supposedly happens in the future."
Chris turned and faced Paige, his face full of hurt and pain. "And because of a dream, you had to turn on me? Pretend that I didn't exist? Thanks, Aunt Paige..."
Paige cringed at Chris' comments, knowing that he was right, but also knowing that she needed to explain herself.
"Chris, I really need you to be honest with me," Paige asked sincerely. "In the future, did I ask Piper to bind your powers?" Chris stiffened and stared at the floor. "Yes," he whispered.
Paige put her hands to her mouth, not believing that her dreams were really depicting true events.

"Don't start with me, Christopher," Paige angrily yelled at fourteen-year- old Chris. "I've had enough of your lies and antics."
"I didn't do anything wrong," Chris shouted. "I saved an innocent!"
"There was nothing to save her from. There were no demons. You just wanted to impress the girl with your powers. What have we told you about using your powers for personal gains?"
"I wasn't using them for personal gains," Chris said, fighting back tears.
"Oh no? That's not what Wyatt told me."
"Wyatt's lying. He's always lying," Chris pleaded. "He just wants to get me in trouble."
"Don't drag Wyatt into this to protect yourself, Chris. You need to be responsible for what you do," Paige scolded. "I've tolerated these antics before but this is getting out of hand."
Chris sighed, knowing that it was pointless to argue. He knew that Paige would believe Wyatt. Everyone always took Wyatt's word over his. Wyatt was the pride of the Charmed Ones and he was just nobody. "I'm sorry," he finally said, not really knowing why he was admitting to something that he didn't do, but probably because he was tired of trying to convince his own family of his worth.
"Chris, you need to control your powers, but it's becoming obvious that this is more difficult for you than we had expected."
"What are you saying, Aunt Paige?" Chris asked, scared of what she might say next.
"I'm going to ask you mom to bind your powers, at least until you can learn to use them properly."
Chris panicked at the thought of losing his powers. "NO! Don't do this, Aunt Paige. I promise that I won't do it again!"
"I've heard your promises before, Christopher. You need to take this seriously. Once you learn your lesson, you will have your powers back."

"How did you get your powers back?" Paige asked, still shocked that she had played a part in her nephew's painful childhood.
"Mom unbounded my powers after..." he paused as he chose his next words carefully. "...after a demon attack..."
~ flash forward begins ~
"Wyatt, get Ryan out of here!" she called as she blasted another demon. "Wyatt??"
Ryan hid behind the sofa, shaking in fear. He watched as his mom and his aunts battled the attacking demons. He gasped as he saw a demon sneaking up along the wall towards him. The Charmed Ones were too busy battling the other demons to notice the threat. Ryan cried out in fear, alerting Piper to the demon. Unfortunately, she was too far away to be of much help.
"Wyatt!!" she cried out in panic.
Chris rushed into the living room just as the demon launched an energy ball towards Ryan. The older boy tried to orb his brother out, only to remember that his powers were bounded. Instinctively, he shielded Ryan's body with his own as the energy ball collided with him.
"AHHH!" he cried out in pain as the energy ball made impact.
"Chris!!" Ryan cried out in horror.
Hearing the cries, the Charmed Ones reenergized their efforts and quickly destroyed the remaining demons.
Piper rushed over to Chris and examined his wounds, only to find that there were no wounds to be healed. However, her son's face was pale and his body was cold. "Chris?" she cried out. "Don't worry, everything is going to be alright..."
Piper laid Chris down on his bed as Paige came running in with a vial of potion. "The demons that attacked used poison against the foes. The Book of Shadows says this is the antidote to the poisoned energy balls."
Piper took the vial and helped Chris sit up on the bed. "Chris honey, you'll feel better after you drink this."
Despite the pain he was in, Chris turned his face away from the potion. "I don't want to feel better," he muttered.
"Chris, please drink the potion," Piper coaxed again.
"I don't want to drink the stupid potion!" Chris cried before hurling the vial against the wall, spilling the contents all over the floor. "Leave me alone!! Just let me die!!"
Piper gasped in shock at the comment. "Chris, please don't do this..."
"I hate my life!" Chris shouted. "Just let me die...no one is going to miss me anyways..." he added in a softer voice, before the poison overtook him and he slipped into unconsciousness.
