The last rays of the sun reached out through the trees of the land. The koopa kingdom looked beautiful this time of year. The warm rays of the sun mixed with the cool spring air made spending time outdoors a treat. Many of the koopa families would play outside and start their fire pits for dinner time.

This evening though, was very different. The whole of koopa kingdom was invited to stay the evening inside the massive castle their king resided in. The koopa king arranged for there to be a banquet to gather and feed his subjects earlier than usual. The beginning of a massive event was to take place the next day and he wanted them to be well rested for it. He was a stern but caring king that wanted every koopa to be involved.

The next day his whole kingdom would travel to the mushroom kingdom as an act of truce. Bowser and Mario had come to an agreement to ensure peace in the lands. Mario suggested hosting a spectacular race. He thought that maybe racing would bring the kingdoms together and help to release some competitive energy.

Before the treaty was made it was a different story. Bowser had been blindly in love with Princess Peach of the Mushroom kingdom and had even put his loyal servants in danger trying to pursue her. Most of his problems arose from the jealousy he had for Mario.

Once, In his eyes Mario was a bottom feeder that was trying to nudge his way into the Royal family for power and fame. Mario was a simple plumber and had met eyes with the princess during the time that Bowser was trying to court her. Bowser saw that the princess was swaying toward the lowly plumber. This ,in his eyes, ruined the chance at joining the two kingdoms together..

Bowser came up with a plan that seemed to backfire badly. He kidnapped peach and hid her away to keep her from falling for the sewer scum. Well, it was too late, the princess had fallen for the little man in red.

No matter how many times Bowser tried to woo the princess, she always jumped right back into Mario's arms. This just angered Bowser more. He wanted to get rid of Mario for good. Each time they fought Mario always won out.

Mario fought hard and had every opportunity to kill Bowser yet chose to spare him. After many, many years, Bowser started to see the truth. Peach could never love him, even if he was rid of Mario. Bowser actually started to see that the real problem was not Mario. His problem was himself, specifically his own selfishness.

As the King ate at the banquet he continued to think on the past events. The passing thoughts of his defeats and humiliating past stung to the core. He started to hear a familiar voice but was still drowning in his thoughts.

"Sire?! Are you hearing me okay?" A magical koopa elder of the castle worryingly asked. He used his cane to gently tap the king.

"Yes Cluu, what is bothering you?" He asked in his casual voice. He then turned to speak properly to his advisor.

"I was just asking you the same question Sire….you stiffened up and grew eerily stoic." He said.

"My apologies Cluu. I didn't realize what I was doing. I just got carried away thinking about tomorrow and the times before that." He sighed. "My thoughts envelop me often. The past is a cruel reminder of one's place."

The old advisor smiled at him. He leaned in and whispered. "My child, don't worry about the king you once were. Your father was a true tyrant that never listened to the people. He ruled the subjects by placing fear in their hearts."

Cluu placed his hand on Bowser's shoulder and a bright yet serious look crossed his aging face."You on the other hand chose to change your ways. The people adore you despite your father, "he chuckled," and your, less than perfect, adolescent years."

Bowser looked away from Cluu and around the room. There definitely was a change in the ways his subjects behaved. They were having fun and truly enjoying each other in his presence. This never really happened before Bowser was king. His wise advisor was right once again.

An hour or so later Bowser finished his banquet with a bang, literally. He arranged a firework show for his subjects right after sunset. Near the end of the spectacular light show Bowser noticed a star in the distance. There were many stars but this one seemed to grow, and grow, and ….SMAAAASH!!!

The mysterious star crashed into a nearby field.

"Was that one a dud?"asked a goomba.

"No ya' idiot! That was just the finale!" Another one replied.

The crowd continued to clamor and their voices filled with slight panic.

Bowser let out a startling roar. All eyes were on him now.

"Shut up and listen up! I'll take care of this. Now calm down and go about your business." The king announced.

He ordered. "IMMEDIATELY!"

"Bowser…" Cluu pleaded.

Bowser then said reluctantly. "Please!"

Cluu nodded in approval. "Now Sire, would you like me to accompany you?"

"No Cluu, I am going alone. I don't want to get anymore of my subjects hurt." Bowser growled.

Cluu sighed in worry as Bowser left to find his clown car. Bowser still had a lot to learn.

Bowser made sure that the area near the kingdom was clear before he drove out to the burning area where the mysterious object landed. He then neared the crash sight. He spotted something oddly familiar. Within the crater there lay a woman in tatters. The king got closer to see if the woman was alive. She was a tall woman with long, platinum blond locks. Bowser turned her over and stepped back as he recognized her.

This was Rosalina, princess and mother of the stars. Bowser took his royal event robe off and wrapped it around her near bare and broken body out of respect for her. He carefully picked her up and carried her in his car back to his castle. He hoped that she wouldn't wake up just yet. If she awoke to the beastly koopa in front of her she would surely smack him. He hadn't spoke to her since he tried to take over the universe once. He assumed she still hated him.

Cluu and a guard shuffled up to Bowser.

"Soldier, get a doctor, NOW!" Bowser ordered as he got close enough. He tried his best to be quiet. He looked away and back to the guard. "Bring the doctor to the infirmary."

The red shelled guard skittered off to the doctor's quarters.

Cluu stayed silent and accompanied the king. He helped Bowser to gently set her down. She looked so helpless and delicate lying in the white infirmary bed. Her only movements consisted of her breathing. Bowser sat down and let out a sigh of relief. He pondered for a second then turned to Cluu.

"I found her at the center of the crash. She just...fell out of the freakin sky." Bowser muttered in disbelief.

"This is very curious. Very curious indeed." Cluu remarked as he pulled on his beard in thought.

They both sat and observed the princess. She was now covered with a blanket and continued to quietly breath. The silence was then broken by the koopa guard.

"Sire. I found one of our finest physicians. Even better, the physician is female for the lady's comfort." The guard assured the king.

The gumba doctor spoke, "I can handle it from here Your Majesty. Now please go get some rest."

The king replied "Thanks Doctor..."

"It's Dr. Plahn Sire. " she informed him.

"Update me immediately if her condition changes Dr. Plahn."

"Yes, Sire." The doctor replied.

The king hesitated a bit on leaving. He felt very worried that she wouldn't wake up. Also she usually had her baby lumas around her at all times. It was very strange to him for her to be without them. They were like her children. If he lost his son Junior then he would go on a rampage to get him back.

Bowser decided to check on his son before heading to his room. He barely stepped into his son's room before a floorboard creaked loudly.

"Cluu?..."Junior asked.

"Twerp!" Bowser replied

Junior snickered, "Hey dad. I knew it was you! Cluu wouldn't have been so loud like you dummy." Junior looked up from bed. "Annnnyways…. What happened? Did you find a bomb-omb? You've been super weird ever since that thing dropped out of the sky." He questioned.

Bowser's face tightened. "Hmmmm….. well there was a lady in the crater where it landed."

Junior interrupted "Oh so a lady got hit by."

"LET ME FINISH CHILD!!!!" Bowser raised his voice slightly.

"It was Rosalina, and I think she lost her lumas because there were none with her. Somethings fishy about all this. All that aside, she's unconscious and possibly hurt bad. This occurrence could risk our truce with Mario and the mushroom kingdom."

Junior furrowed his brows. "Dad, why do you like those mushroom loving idiots so much? We could've crushed them eventua…."

Bowser shushed Junior. "We spoke about this and my decision is final. Time for bed son."

Junior turned back over reluctantly and got in his sleeping position. Bowser left to his own sleeping quarters.
