Two young girls sat in the airport, one with packed bags, the other with mental baggage. Both were sorry that they had to leave each other.
"Promise to write?" Hikari managed a sheepish grin at her companion.
"Every day." Takara swore. The announcement blurted over the PA system that TK's flight was boarding and ready to leave in a few minutes. Neither wanted to leave.
"Y'know, I could smuggle you out in a suitcase."
"Tight fit. You could stay here, and live at my place."
"Your parents wouldn't allow it."
Hikari stared into TK's eyes.
At 13, both girls were as close to each other than any friends could be. They'd grown up in the same apartment building, across the hall from each other, since they were four. They grew up in each others company, eating each others mud pies, going out on family trips together, sharing the same teddy bear. Another message drifted through the airport that TK's plane was about to leave. TK started to drift away Hikari stood and began to leave. Both drifted apart. Hikari began to walk away, leaving TK to stare at her back.
"Wait!" TK ran to Hikari. "I forgot something."
Hikari looked puzzled. TK kissed her. Hard. Strong. Soft. Warm. Sweet.
Then she was gone, running after her plane, leaving Hikari in the midst of it all, wondering what happened.

Tai walks in on TK and Hikari beginning to make love. Both still have their clothes on, but to their hands, that doesn't matter.
"What the hell!" Tai's shocked voice sounded. Both girls stop, notably embarrassed. Hikari throws a pillow at him.
"Get out." Tai grabs the pillow. He still looked a little shocked, but it was fading.
TK has slunk off into the hallway, out of Hikari's bedroom as the two siblings started to talk. Two years after her plane left...TK had left Hikari stunned inside the airport. After TK saw the uncertainty on Hikari's face, she had left. Both wrote to each other, trying to avoid that particular topic. Hikari showed up at Takara's doorstep one day, while on school vacation. To talk, she said. The ended up using their mouths a lot more.
They never told anyone about their relationship, but they ended up sending gifts, meeting every time they were together in the same town, talking to each other on the computer late into the night.
They were in love. They were completely bonkers for each other

Hikari and Takara stood to the side of the platform, waiting to get their high school diplomas. They sat three seats away from each other next to their fellow students: Daisuke, Yolei and Iori. Hikari thought TK looked particularly fetching in her graduation robe.
"Takaishi, Takara." TK stood and walked to the platform. As she went by, Hikari let her hand glide across TK's.
TK had moved back in her last year of high school to be with her lover. Only their closest friends knew of TK's status in Hikari's life. Only their brothers knew what they did together. And only TK knew how much Hikari loved her.
