Braids
Summary: Why is Hana always braiding Tohru's hair...?
Disclaimer: I don't own Fruits Basket. If I did, Hana would be in every book of it... So you're probably better off that way. sighs sadly
I lift up another section of Tohru's hair and separate it into three parts.
Three parts, three friends, all interwoven and fashioned out of the same stuff, standing out against the blank expanse. There is Uo, the most troublesome bit of hair and Tohru, the most compliant. There I am, the strand added last, but still so close to the others that, sooner than one would think, it is all but impossible to pick apart.
I tie a ribbon at the end, the one Yuki gave Tohru as a gift just this weekend. He came in so late, so far after us. He will not threaten our friendship.
Weeks pass. Braids are woven and rewoven. Seasons slide into one another; Spring for Tohru, Summer for Uo, and Autumn for me. Winter comes. Tohru is glad for the snow.
I unravel the braid.
Author's note: The word yuki means snow in Japanese.
