This is a songfic to Bless the Broken Road by Rascall Flats. It is set in the future where Clark is contemplating his life. Thanks to Snarky for this one.

You know opposites attract but I never believed it…. that is until it happened to me.

I set out on a narrow way
Many years ago
Hoping I would find true love
Along the broken road

You know you have to be careful when you do what I do. I'm not talking about my career. Now, it can get….. interesting at times. But that's not what I mean. I'm referring to my other job.

It can be rather dangerous to be around me sometimes, okay most of the time. But that doesn't seem to bother her. Some people laugh in the face of danger, she doesn't do that. It's more like she defies danger. Gets right up in its face, and balls up her fist at it as if to dare it to come after the force of nature known as Lois Lane. Trust me on this one even I don't want to face her full wrath.

I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

But, it wasn't always this clear. I definitely made a few wrong turns before I found the right path. If you would've told me this was the way things would end up, I would've laughed in your face. When we first met…well let me put this way. Our first meeting was unusual, but so is our relationship. She doesn't let me forget about it either. But, I digress.

First impressions...Annoying. Irritating. Obnoxious. Pushy. Rude. That was Lois. She could talk her way into or out of any situation. A trait that has become quite useful now. I'm still unsure how it happened that we ended up together, but I'm glad.

Clark was snapped out of his reverie by Lois's voice, "Clark, you are being very quiet in there. What's going on?"

Clark smiled as he looked at her now standing in the doorway. He motioned for her to come over to him. She obliged and came over and sat beside him. She then repeated her question. "So, what's going on in that head of yours?"

"I was just thinking about us and how long it took us to finally get together."

"Well, they say good things come to those who wait." Lois quipped. "I definitely have a good thing."

"Yeah." Clark replied looking at her wryly. "When have you ever waited for anything in your life?"

She lightly hit at him. "You know what I mean." She then got up gently grabbing his hand. "Now, come on I attempted cooking for a change."

Clark put on a mock serious face. "Should I be worried? "

"Well, there are no peas." Lois said and then added , "But, I got some in the freezer and I can get them out."

"That's alright. I'm sure the meal is great."

Now, I'm just rolling home
Into my lover's arms
This much I know is true
That God Bless the Broken Road
That led me straight to you.
