Hello everyone! This is my first attempt at a fanfic! I always read other people's fanfics and one day I thought to myself, "Why not join in?" So that's what I am doing. This fanfic is both for fun and to help me be a better writer.

I was inspired to write this fanfic by "Strange Lovers" by The Overlord of Ice, and "A Meeting of Two Hope's" by kingxana0. Great stories and awesome authors, you should check them out! Especially "Strange Lovers", I absolutely LOVE it!

Now you're probably thinking, "Makoto and Chiaki…? I never heard of that ship before." And guess what? You would be right! I was thinking of ships that haven't been explored before or at least haven't been done much, and so I looked for a ship that was interesting to write about and surprise, surprise, I found the ship and it was Makoto and Chiaki! Once I found this ship, I found this pairing to be cute and decided to write about it.

This is a Non-Despair-AU, and the rating is "M" because some chapters might not be child appropriate, and I don't want to get into trouble.

Also, I don't own Danganronpa, it is owned by its respective owner(s).

With all of that cleared and done, I hope you like and enjoy it!

It was a normal day at Hope's Peak Academy, Japan's biggest and most famous institution that cultivates the talents of the youth and to create a future of hope for the world. Yes, it is a school of hope and prosperity, and 100% not doing sinister things such as having teenagers being subjected to morally suspicious experiments or covering up murders that plotted by a crazy, teenage model obsessed with despair. No way that would happen because that would be insane and totally ridiculous…Although that would make an interesting and intriguing video game series and anime…

But this isn't a story of hope versus despair, but instead this is a much simpler story.

In the school, there is a classroom; it is class 78. The school bell had hung, signaling that class had ended and that it was lunch time. Because of that, some students of said class are lounging around and chatting with each other, and others are leaving to get lunch. One of these students was doing the latter and was right about leaving the classroom, until…

"Hey Makoto."

The student in question is Makoto Naegi, the Ultimate Lucky Student. He got his talent as the Ultimate Lucky Student by winning a lottery out of completely ordinary students, which led to him joining Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Lucky Student. In addition to this, he was caught up in a bizarre series of events on the day of his selection which ended up catching a jewel thief and burning the selection ticket. Makoto is a normal teenager, his luck notwithstanding. He is notably short compared to most of his classmates. He has spiky, desaturated brown hair with a prominent ahoge, and washed-out hazel eyes. He is wearing black jeans, red sneakers with white toes, and an open black jacket with gold buttons, and a zipped-up dull green hoodie with a red stripe along the zipper; the hoodie has an image of a red gas mask in a circle printed on the back of the hood, and the zipper goes all the way up to the top of the hood. He wears a pin shaped like a four-pointed star overlaying a crescent moon; this is pinned to the lapel of his jacket.

He turns to who had garnered his attention and sees that it was his old friend, Sayaka Maizono. Sayaka was the Ultimate Pop Sensation, and as such, she has the voice of an angel, exceptional dancing skills, incredible performance, and the leader of an idol group. Because of this, she has garnered over 100 million fans and admirers all over the world who call themselves Sayakers. She is a slim girl of average height with a pale complexion, and has long, dark blue hair flowing past her waist, and Her eyes are round and dark blue which might be likely enhanced by makeup. She is wearing a white seifuku school uniform with a blue sailor collar and sleeve cuffs, both striped with two white lines. With this, she wears a light pink ribbon tied in a large bow at her collar and a short, pleated, blue-green plaid skirt. Her legwear consists of navy thigh-high socks, the edges striped with a white line, and dark brown Mary Janes with silver buckles. On her collar flap and her left sleeve are her school crests that can be found printed in gold.

Both Makoto and Sayaka went to the same middle school, Blackroot Junior High, though both had never talked to each other due to being in different social circles and different classes. However, she became interested in Makoto after seeing him nurse an injured crane when it got lost and stuck in the pool at their school. She wanted to get to know him more, but unfortunately, both of them ended up graduating without ever contacting each other, that is until she had a chance to meet up with him and befriended him at Hope's Peak Academy.

"What's up, Sayaka?"

She walks up to him and asks, "Do you want to have lunch together?"

He shakes his head a bit. "Sorry, Sayaka, but I already made plans with someone. How about next time?"

She was surprised by his response, because usually there were times where they would have lunch together. She then smiles and nods. "Sure thing."

He smiles back. "Great! Have a nice lunch." He waves goodbye at her while leaving.

"You too." She waves back. She then tilts her head in curiosity and ponders, 'I wonder who Makoto is having lunch with.'

In another classroom, like class 78, the same thing is happening with class 77-B; some students are lounging around and chatting while others are going out for lunch. One student, like Makoto and others, is doing the latter. The student goes to the door-

"Nanami."

The student that was about to leave was Chiaki Nanami, the Ultimate Gamer. Her talent is self-explanatory: she is really good at games, proving to be virtually undefeatable. Chiaki is a relatively short girl with fair skin and a large bust. She has a thin face with pink eyes, mauve hair that is short to her shoulders, curling outward, except for two front locks that go inward, framing her face, and her frontal bangs, straight but a bit erratic. She is also wearing the standard Hope's Peak Academy uniform of a white button-up dress shirt with a red ribbon tied in a bow at the collar, with a warm brown blazer and pleated skirt. However, she wears a cream-colored hooded cardigan underneath her blazer. Her leg-wear consists of a pair of black thigh high socks and white loafers. Prior to being called, she was playing a game, Gala Omega, on her Nantendo Game Girl Advance. She turns to who called her name which is revealed to be-

"Yes, Hinata?"

While there are students that are Ultimates and would in turn have talents, there are some that don't have a talent which in turn would mean that they are not an Ultimate. Those who weren't Ultimates were what the school called Reserve Course students (although the higher-ups called them "money cows" because the school milked them for their money but said reserve students were a lot happy not knowing they were suckers), where they have to pay a lot of money in order to attend Hope's Peak. And while Hinata is from the reserve course, however unlike the others from his original course, he was selected. Unlike previous years, this year was different from the rest because at the start of the new year, Jin Kirigiri, the Headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy, had thought of an idea to help build up and strengthen the relationship between the talented students from the main course and the non-talented people from the reserve course, which said idea was to move some students from the reserve course over to the main campus and have lectures together with the talented students. Although since the plan is only in its early stage and because it is only a test, there would only be one selected person from the reserve course to get the honor of that.

About a couple of years ago, Hinata came to the academy but was put into the reserve course, as it was mentioned beforehand, he had no talent. He really wanted to be accepted into the main course, because ever since he was a kid, he admired the school and dreamed of attending it, for it was a huge dream of his, like being a superstar, due to how he viewed his talent-less life as being boring. But in the end, he was devastated about the destination of being accepted into the reserve course. As a result, he thought how ignoble of himself, and wanted to do anything to get into that school, even if it would change him into a different person. But luckily he didn't have to change into a different person, where instead he was to be picked as a representative from the reserve course, so he could be a student at the main course, and the class he ended up in was class 77-B. Hajime Hinata has short, spiky-ish brown hair with an ahoge (like a certain lucky student), his green eyes have straight lines running across his pupils, resembling a prohibition symbol, and is wearing a black reserve course student uniform.

The boy walks up to Chiaki. "I wanted to ask if you want to have lunch together."

She turns toward him and shakes her head. "Sorry, Hinata. But I'm having lunch with someone else. Next time, maybe?"

Hajime's eyes widened and was surprised to hear what she said. Sometimes both of them would have lunch together, but to hear that she was having lunch with someone else was new to him. He relaxes and smiles. "Alright, then. Next time it is."

She returns his smile with her own and nods. "Okay. You have a good lunch…I think…" She waves goodbye at him and leaves the classroom, then resumes playing her game.

Hajime returns her waving with a wave of his own. Then soon afterwards, once she disappears around a corner and out of sight, he wonders about her. 'Mm. Who is Nanami having lunch with?'

Chiaki continues walking towards her destination, walking up a flight of stairs towards the rooftop while playing her game. Eventually she reaches the rooftop door, opens it and sees someone on the rooftop and sitting on a bench. That someone is revealed to be-

"Makoto!" She smiles brightly.

Makoto turns to her and also smiles brightly. "Hey Chiaki!" And right beside him, he has two bento boxes that he'd procured and had not gotten the delicious food from the Ultimate Cook, or Ultimate Chef as he wishes to be known as.

He stands up as Chiaki walks up to him. Once she was right in front of him, she closed her eyes, leaned forward and locked lips with him. He also closed his eyes and allowed himself to melt and savor the moment. Her lips were soft like clouds and would send shivers down his spine every time they kissed. It was moments like this one that he enjoyed, that they both enjoyed and reveled and adored in a simple yet very pleasurable activity. After what felt like an hour, the two separated. They separated and had opened their eyes with both of their cheeks pink.

"How was your day so far, Chiaki?" "Oh, it's fine. There was a lesson on physics that was boring, but Chisa made it interesting…I think…"

"Oh, that's cool."

She tilts her head a bit. "How was your day?"

"Mine is also fine." He then rubs the back of his neck. "Although, I did have a run in some wildlife."

Chiaki's brow furrowed, a look of curiosity adorning her face. "Really? What happened?"

"Well…" He scratches his cheek with his finger. "...a bird attacked me when I went to pick up a coin."

The look of curiosity shifts into a look of worry. "Oh, Makoto! I hope you are okay!"

He waves his hands reassuringly. "Yeah, yeah-I'm fine, Chiaki! Luckily, I managed to fend off the bird and it flew away." He then rubs the top of his head. "...Although, that bird had a really hard beak…" He can still feel how hard the bird's beak was, hitting against his head.

The look of worry shifts again to a look of relief. "Well, that's good."

They both then sat down on the bench, ate lunch together while talking about small stuff relating to their respective classes which earned a few chuckles and laughs during some of said small stuff. The two empty bento boxes rested at the bench's side while the couple rested and enjoyed themselves. Pink found its way onto Chiaki's cheeks when the lucky student's hand, his fingers interlocked hers, had squeezed her hand and smiled at her. She smiles and squeezes back. They then kissed.

A normal peaceful day at the school of bringing hope to the future.

After that, I might have some other ideas for more chapters, but I should point out that there isn't any plot to these chapters, they are just one shots that are connected.
