Prologue: Obsidian
Trailer song: Beyond Human by Divide Music
"What you call Darkness… Will be the end of your evolution." - Oryx the Taken King.
A male teenage figure clad in white chitin armor over clothing consisting of a blue shirt, a leather jacket, black jeans and steel toed boots with a bone sword in his back and two holstered hand cannons walked through the Mistral countryside. His helmet bore the image of a blade stabbed into the ground with spider web cracks around it. This was the boy's symbol. As he walked, Grimm of various types walked into view and surrounded him. The figure glanced around under his helmet, evaluating his opposition.
'Beowolves, Boarbatusks, and Ursai. Easy pickings.' He thought.
A Beowolf lunged at him but he whipped out one of his hand cannons and shot it square in the head mid lunge. When the body hit the ground, the rest of the horde charged forward, eager to feed. The boy smirked under his helmet and whipped out his other hand cannon. He then started firing shots at the Grimm with marksman level accuracy. For all the adaptations the creatures of darkness have, the eyes would always be an exploitable weak spot.
As the final Grimm fell the boy continued forward and started looking at his scroll for more directions, right before he came to what looked like a small town that seemed to have been ravaged by a tribe of bandits, and subsequently, Grimm.
The boy walked through the burning place and soon was slapped in the face with a piece of cloth that was blown onto him by a gust of wind. Looking at it, he saw that it was red with the picture of a black wing and a clock as a sort of eye on it.
"Hmm…" The boy hummed as he gave the cloth a small glare. Shaking his head, he discarded the cloth. "Alright, let's have a look around and see what I can turn up." He said to himself.
However, right as he was about to start looking around, a nearby building crumbled to the ground and a giant Deathstalker came bursting out of the rubble, shaking the ground with the impact of its claws. The boy glared at the scorpion creature with great hatred.
"Did I give you permission to exist?!" He roared furiously before he started shooting, only for his gun's bullets to have absolutely no effect on it. Deciding to move on to plan B, he unsheathed his next weapon: a giant sword.
The sword was massive, exactly six feet long, and two feet thick, it looked like it was comprised of a strange substance similar to either carbon or bone, that seemed hollow but seemed to be extremely heavy to everyone but it's user, it seemed to have pores and cracks in the blade, as if it's been used awhile and the tip was also slanted, lumpy and blunt. The guard seemed to be an actual part of the blade, while the handle is blue and the pommel is white.
Letting out a war cry, he charged forward and lept at his quarry, swinging the blade down on it. The blade seemed to glow a purple-blue color as a massive amount of kinetic energy hit the scorpion square in the head, causing its exoskeleton to shatter.
"Now to slaughter you!" The boy growled before cutting one of the claws off, causing the Deathstalker to roar in pain. It tried to strike back, but the boy blocked the blow with the flat of his sword and it absorbed the impact. This happened several more times before it started to tire out, giving the warrior the opportunity he needed.
'NOW!' He yelled mentally as he dashed forward and swung his blade up, splitting the Grimm's head in two. The creature screeched as it disintegrated, it's stinger being the only thing that was left behind.
Meanwhile on one of the pieces of rubble, a crow was watching the whole thing. It blinked a couple of times before squawking and flying towards the boy as he stepped out of the town, finding nothing of use. Before it landed in front of him, chirping and flapping its wings to get his attention.
"Hm?" The boy hummed as he looked at the bird. "Something you need, little bird? If it's food, I got nothing." He told the avian. The bird seemed to sigh dejectedly as it shook its head before it suddenly transformed into something else: a man!
The man had graying black, spiky hair, faded pink eyes, and slight stubble along his jawline. He wore a red, tattered cloak, a gray dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants and black dress shoes. He also had a ring on his right index finger, two other rings on his right ring finger and a necklace with a crooked cross-shaped pendant. In addition, his hair is made to look like it is composed entirely of feathers.
"I'm not here for food, kid." Ther man told the now surprised teen. "Though if you had something to drink, I wouldn't object." He added.
"... Nope. No booze on me." The teen replied after snapping out of his surprise. "I heard about you from your sis… Qrow." He added with a wary look as he took his helmet off, revealing his face. He had black hair, an angular face, and blue eyes.
"And I've heard quite a bit about you, Sky Obsidian." Qrow replied before taking something out of his pocket. "I got a question for ya, you recognize this symbol?" He asked, showing Sky what looked like two bat wings that were positioned to form a heart. The now named Sky narrowed his eyes at the symbol.
"Yeah. That's my little sister's and my own birthmark." He replied. "What about it?" He asked.
"Well, my boss Professor Ozpin of Beacon Academy, has me looking for a girl a couple years younger than you with that exact same mark on her back in between her shoulders." Qrow told him.
"That sounds like my sister, alright. If you want help dealing with her in some way, then you've reached out to the right teen." Sky said before he frowned. "But… Are you sure that this is the mark she had? After our parents were killed, she was kidnapped. I'm not even sure if she's alive or dead."
"I'm sure, kid. Trust me, I'm sure." The huntsman said. "And from what I've been able to gather, she's taken up an alias, but I don't know what it is." He explained.
"We'll figure it out. Right now, I'm gonna head back to Vale. I plan on enrolling at Beacon this coming year." The teen said.
"Funny you should mention that…" Qrow smirked. "I was actually told to pick you up personally." He told him. "I got a ride waiting for us in the next town that'll take us straight to Vale, if you want it."
"Alright then. Let's go." The boy nodded. With that, the two left the ravaged town for Vale.
ThermalsniperN7: SURPRISE! Guess who's back from his unwanted hiatus! I've got quite a bit lined up, starting with this sister story to Rise of the Iron Wolves. As for the hiatus… my old PC bit the dust, and I had to wait most of last year to get a new one.
Dragon Emperor0: And to help him in this new endeavor is me! Hey everyone!
ThermalsniperN7: That's right. My buddy Dragon Emperor0 is helping out. There are some ships that'll be exclusively canon to this story. Dragon Emperor0, if you would?
Dragon Emperor0: Right. In order of importance they are: Queen of Spades/Royal Flush (Ace x Weiss), Arkos, Eclipse (Sun and Blake), Emberald (Cinder/Autumn x Emerald), Roman Holiday (Neo x Roman), Nuts and Dolts (Ruby x Penny), White Rose (Ruby x Weiss), Bumblebee, Flower Power, Lucky Charms (Qrow x Clover) Changing Seasons (Lilly x Weiss), Mending Fences (Tai x Raven), Mothers and Daughters (Ruby, Weiss, Winter, Yang, Lily x Summer, Raven and Willow), etc.
ThermalsniperN7: Main pairing is Dragon Knight (Sky x Yang) but it will eventually grow into Sky x harem as the story goes on. There will also be room for the various dynamics to breathe.
Dragon Emperor0: But as the list above shows, said harem won't exactly be an exclusive kind. And don't worry, it won't get over crowded, either. We've planned for that.
ThermalsniperN7: Though I will at least say this: The ladies will be bisexual. Anyway, see you guys later in this story!
