Chapter 12 Coming back to you...
Kagome became a dark purple color.
Inuyasha tried to get threw the barrier but was losing his strength.
"What is happening?" Inuyasha said, seeing his fingernails grow short.
Sango looked up at the sky.
"No, it's the new moon." Sango said, having everyone's attention to the sky.
"What do you mean the new moon?" Everyone except the gang asked.
"Inuyasha is a half demon so each time under the new moon he turns human. Now he is turning human and it couldn't be a worse time." Miroku said, dropping his head in sadness.
"Inuyasha will not be strong enough to get into the barrier in his human form." Sesshomaru said, looking at his brother, fear in his eyes.
"So what will happen if he can not break threw?" Meganu said, her face matching Sesshomaru's.
"I do not know, it depends on Kagome whether the light or dark will win." Sesshomaru said, looking up at his human brother still fighting to get to Kagome despite his human form.
Kagome and Inuyasha
Inuyasha was still fighting, he refused to give up and let the barrier take him away from Kagome.
"No, I can not let Kagome face this alone, she needs me!" Inuyasha said, trying to reach Kagome, only to have his hand a couple of inches away from hers.
Inuyasha was starting to lose his strength from the barrier.
'I can not hold up much longer.' Inuyasha thought more power hitting him.
Inuyasha closed his eyes and let the power take him.
However, something stopped him.
'Why am I not falling to the ground?' Inuyasha thought, opening his eyes to see Kagome's face eyes closed, wearing the blue kimono now fully clean. A wound still in her chest where she took the blow for him.
Inuyasha was being pulled up by Kagome into the barrier.
"Inuyasha." Kagome said, her eyes still closed, locking her other hand with his.
"Kagome." Inuyasha said, closing his eyes and kissing her.
Inside Kagome's head's
Kagome had seen Inuyasha fighting to get to her, she seemed stud.
She wanted to help but couldn't get her body to move.
When she saw Inuyasha falling, she broke the shield and grabbed his hand.
Now they were together in the different reality.
"I see that she has found some help." The dream Naraku said, looking at the two mates.
Inuyasha broke the kiss reluctantly and stood in front of Kagome.
"You two shall die together, what a wonderful ending to such a disgusting story." Kagura said, showing her disgust on her face.
"Yeah like that will ever happen." Inuyasha said, grabbing his sword from his sheath.
"You are out numbered and over powered." Kanna said, appearing to the right of Naraku.
"Inuyasha what are we going to do?" Kagome said, holding on to Inuyasha's back.
Naraku pointed for Kagura and Kanna to attack.
"Grr." Inuyasha growled, using the wind scar to block their attacks.
Kagome fell on her knees and watched the battle holding her stomache.
When the light cleared, Kagura had lost one of her kimono sleeves and Kanna had lost one of her arms.
"Impressive you actually have power behind the swings, but I am afraid it won't be enough!" Kagura said, using her dance of blades and feather to make the attacks seem to come from everywhere.
reality
The group watched as the light and dark started to battle against each other once again.
The powers started to rip apart the ground, destroying everything in its place.
"What are we going to do?" Meganu said, holding on to the strangers back.
Then suddenly on of the ten streaks separated from the others and spread across all of Japan that was in its path.
"What is going on?" Sango said, hearing the screams of demons in its path.
"They are being turned into humans." Sesshomaru said, trying to figure out a way to get out of this.
"The dark streak turns humans into demons and the light streak turns them human. But the dark streak turns demons evil." Rin said, looking at the two mates in the center of all this.
"Is there no where safe we can go?" Sango said, fear in her eyes.
"I have an idea." Isano said, fully healed from the lights.
Everyone turned their attention to Isano who was looking up at the couple.
"There has to be a reason that Kagome and Inuyasha aren't changing from demon to human, the power might be equal in the middle." Isano said, fear still on her face.
"However, there is a chance that I could be wrong and we could be killed by the power." Isano said, turning to the rest of the group.
"So what should we do?" Sango said, looking at everyone.
Back with Kagome and Inuyasha a couple of minutes later
Kanna was on the floor dead (in the dream), her eyes still open, and her kimono red from blood.
Kagura had lost one of her arms and was now on her last feather.
"Well it seems my incarnations are not strong enough to defeat two little pest." Naraku said, taking off his baboon pelt and getting ready for battle.
"Kagome stay back." Inuyasha said, to the girl who looked frightened to death behind him.
Naraku brought his lenticels up and attacked Inuyasha again.
Inuyasha blocked it and Kagura came up behind him and attacked Kagome.
Kagome saw Kagura coming and ran to Inuyasha's back.
"Inuyasha I don't have any weapons, how can I help?" Kagome said, dodging some of Kagura's attacks but still having a scar on her left shoulder.
'How can I protect Kagome, there are too many attacks to block.' Inuyasha thought, protecting Kagome from another of Kagura and Naraku's attacks.
Everyone else in reality
Everyone had decided to try Isano's plan.
"Here goes nothing!" Meganu said, jumping with Isano into the middle of the light.
They disappeared into the light.
"Where did they go?" Sango said, dodging another attack but still looking at where the girls had jumped in.
"I don't know but it has to be better than this place." Miroku said, grabbing Sango's arm and jumping in with her to the light.
"Well do you want to die or jump?" Sesshomaru said, looking at everyone who was left.
He then turned back the light and looked up at his brother.
"Brother if I don't come out of this alive I swear I will haunt you for the rest of your life!" Sesshomaru screamed holding onto Rin and jumped into the light.
Everyone followed a determined look on his or her face.
With the group inside the light
The group gathered in a room, which seemed never to end, all in bright purple light.
"Where are we?" Sango said, holding her head.
"I don't know, what is that?" Miroku said, pointing to a black block that seemed to be on the other side of this never-ending room.
"One way to find out." Sesshomaru said, holding Rin and running towards it with everyone close behind.
Kagome and Inuyasha
"Dance of blades!" Kagura said, using her feather and fan to attack them from all sides.
Inuyasha picked up Kagome and jumped to the other side.
Naraku attacked them before they could even get to the ground. They were blown to the wall with Inuyasha hitting the wall and Kagome hitting Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha what are we going to do, they are stronger than in real life?" Kagome said, holding on to Inuyasha's shirt, fear in her eyes.
"We will be them will the broken wave, but with them working as a tag team, we are going to have to fight together." Inuyasha said, holding Kagome's hand and pulling an old broken arrow from his sleeve.
"But Inuyasha I don't have a bow." Kagome said, holding the arrow.
"Kagome I have known you for two years and I know that you will think of something my mate." Inuyasha said, kissing her forehead and standing in front of her.
"Bring it on!" Inuyasha said, getting into fighting stance with his sword.
Naraku and Kagura both frowned and came at them.
Inuyasha blocked their attacks.
"Kagome go now, hurry!" Inuyasha screamed, fighting to get the attacks back.
"But..." Kagome said, looking at the arrow, not wanting to leave her mate.
"Now Kagome, we do not have time for this, I believe in you!" Inuyasha said, finally throwing Kagura and Naraku back, and attacking them.
Kagome looked at the scene one more time and then nodded.
'Where can I find something to use like a bow?' Kagome thought going threw her memories.
Kagome looked around the room but could not find anything that looked remotely like a bow or anything that she could use.
'Think, think, there must be something.' Kagome thought, and then her head shot up.
"Wait I know." Kagome said, remembering the lesson Kaeda had given her.
'If I concentrate hard enough I can make a bow out of my priestess powers.' Kagome thought, the arrow starting to glow.
'I only have enough power for one shot.' Kagome thought, looking worriedly at her two opponents.
Kagome finally made a bow out of her powers, and she aimed at Kagura and Naraku.
'They are moving to fast, I can't get them.' Kagome thought, trying to keep the bow as long as possible.
Inuyasha looked back at Kagome, 'Why isn't she shooting her arrow?' Inuyasha thought, using the wind scar on Kagura knocking the fan out of her hand.
Inuyasha took his sword and sliced it in half, and dodged a blow from Naraku.
Kagura looked at Inuyasha with disgust, 'Without my fan my wind powers are diminished, what am I going to do?' Kagura thought, circling around Inuyasha and Kagome on her feather.
Inuyasha was fighting with Naraku's tentacles.
'I have to get Kagura and Naraku at the same time other wise I won't be able to get them at all.' Kagome said, gulping.
Kagura noticed Kagome's arrow a fearful look on her face.
'I have to stop her.' Kagura thought moving her feather so that it was in Kagome's path.
"One shot." Kagome said, putting all of her power so that the bow and the arrow were glowing brightly.
Inuyasha had taken some of Naraku's tentacles off, but they just kept growing back.
'We aren't getting anywhere, what is taking Kagome so long?' Inuyasha thought, as he looked back at his mate.
'What is that, its Kagura and she is headed straight for Kagome!' Inuyasha thought as he was hit by one of his tentacles and was hit across the room
"Kagome look out!" Inuyasha said, running towards Kagome.
The rest of the gang!
The rest of the gang had come to the shinning box.
"What is it?" Rin said, looking at the light, sort of swimming towards it.
"I don't know we should be cautious." Sesshomaru said, trying to stop going towards the light.
"Sesshomaru I can't stop!" Rin said, trying to swim back, but only getting closer.
Rin looked into the light.
"Its Kagome and Inuyasha they are battling with Naraku and, Kagome looks hurt!" Rin said, looking threw the portal at Kagome and Inuyasha fighting with Naraku and Kagura.
"What, that cant is they are on the outside of the light." Sango said, trying to get away from the light as well.
"I know what it sounds like but, it is Kagome and Inuyasha they are in trouble." Rin said, trying to stand her ground but only being pulled in by the light.
"Well where ever they are we are being pulled in to!" Sango said, watching everyone including herself being pulled in.
"Kanna is down and Kagura is about to attack Kagome!" Rin said, fear in her eyes for her friend.
"No, we have to help her, fiction or non-fiction Kagome is in trouble and that is all I need to know." Sango said, pushing towards the light and being engulfed by it.
"Sango is right, let's go!" Meganu said, following Sango.
Everyone soon followed.
Rin was the last one to go for everyone else had been able to get there faster.
"Rin wait there is something that you must know!" A voice said, and suddenly the figure of Kagura appeared in the darkness holding her fan as a geisha would.
Rin had stopped moving.
"Are you the one who is controlling the atmosphere in here, why are you pulling us toward there?" Rin said, standing up trying not to show the fear that she was felling inside of her.
"Rin I must relay this message to Inuyasha and Kagome, they are in trouble." Kagura said, removing the fan from her face.
"Why should I trust you?" Rin said, putting a defensive tone in her voice.
"I may be Naraku's incarnation but I do not have the same desires. Naraku holds my life in his hands but I can hold the secret no more." Kagura said, closing her fan and putting her hands to her side to show she would not attack.
"What secret?" Rin said, interest replacing the fear.
"I know that you were the only one besides Inuyasha who heard Naraku said that 'Kagome was born for the purpose of mating with him,' and there is some truth to that, but something went wrong in the process." Kagura started.
"Go on." Rin said, interest mounting incredibly.
"After Naraku saw that Kikyo wasn't going to love him after she met Inuyasha, so as you know he killed both of them.
Naraku did not like living alone so he created the sacred well made from the wood of the time tree.
He then cast a spell on Kikyo's soul so that it could never rest but to be incarnated.
He then traveled to the future were he sensed the girl. He was planning on waiting until she reached seventeen years old but the centipede demon beat him to it." Kagura explained.
"You mean that the centipede wasn't part of Naraku's plan?" Rin asked, remembering the story that Sesshomaru had told her.
"No and that is where the problems began, Naraku thought that he would be able to get Kagome, bring her to his castle and never have to have Kagome meet Inuyasha, and he especially didn't count on Kagome meeting and let alone releasing him from the spell." Kagura thought, as she remembers the memories that were given to her from being part of Naraku.
"You mean that Naraku can get over to Kagomes era any time he wants." in said, fear for the girl growing.
"Yes, he has been watching her in that time for a while now, but stopped when he noticed Inuyasha going to visit her more and more frequently." Kagura said, thinking back to Naraku always leaving.
"Slowly the time went on until Naraku could take no more and came out in the open and started attacking the growing numbers of their pack.
Naraku could not get very close to Kagome for you see one of the demons that make him up is out for revenge upon Kagome, and it is not for the desire Naraku has but the desire the demon had himself.
This demon was one of very few who escaped Midoriko the girl who the sacred jewel came out of.
This demon has a desire for Kagome's death not only because the jewel came out of her but like Kikyo she is a descendent of Midoriko, and with each generation past the sprit of Midoriko grows stronger.
This is threatening the demons because their powers' blossoming means the death of them.
Midoriko's wiped out ¼ of the demons population, Kikyo's ½ and Kagome's would have wiped out the entire demon population of the world.
Now it is too late for Kagome's powers, they are not as pure thanks to Naraku tainting them with his darkness.
It is looking like Kagome will not be able to defeat the demons in her head, and as if Naraku shall win for the third time. "Kagura said, her dislike of it appearing.
"So you mean that there is nothing that we can do, that Kagome is lost, that the world will be plunged into darkness." Rin said, tears forming in her eyes.
"There is one chance that Kagome's powers can be purified, not completely but enough to save the world from the darkness." Kagura said a small smile from the look of hope from Rin but was hidden by her fan.
"How?" Rin said, hope and fear battling like Kagome's powers just feet from her.
"The ring is the key." Kagura said, but then Naraku appeared behind her taking her back.
"Wait Kagura!" Rin screamed trying to go to Kagura but then felt the control she had lost.
"Rin remember the ring is the key, do not give up!" Kagura said, but then was taken away by Naraku.
Rin was then taken into the light with the rest of them.
While Rin and Kagura were talking with the rest of the gang
"Hirikose!" Sango screamed as she threw her weapon to save Kagome from the dream Kagura.
Kagome did not move from her spot and just kept her arrow ready.
"Kagome!" Sango said, catching Hirikose and then was about to run to her when she was caught by a barrier.
"You shall not interfere anymore!" Naraku said, putting up the barrier from where the people were.
Inuyasha took this opportunity to attack Naraku, succeeded, and cutting the puppets head from it shoulders.
"That will do you no justice Inuyasha." Naraku's head said an evil smirk on its face.
"Where is Rin?" Sango said, looking around the group.
"Was she left behind in the space?" Sesshomaru said a worried look on his face.
"Ah!" Rin said, being thrown from a Connor of the wall and was thrown in the barrier.
"Rin where were you?" Sesshomaru said, holding the Rin in his arms getting some strange looks from the people around them.
"Kagura told me the story of... Wait that doesn't matter she told me something about defeating Naraku." Rin said, thinking about her visit with Naraku.
"Go!" They heard Kagome scream as she let go of her arrow.
Everyone looked at Naraku and Kagura who were now standing side by side.
Naraku's head had rejoined the body and he held up his hands.
The barrier hit the arrow.
"What, why isn't it going threw?" Kagome said as she looked in horror as the arrow was aimed back at her only to miss her head by an inch.
Inuyasha looked at the arrow to, disbelief in his eyes, which quickly changed to worry as he saw the arrow going towards Kagome.
Inuyasha stood by Kagome after the arrow had past.
"No that was all I had, that was all the power." Kagome said, crying and going to fall to her knees if Inuyasha had not caught her.
"Kagome we can do this I know it, please keep faith." Inuyasha said reassurance in his eyes.
Kagome smiled a weak smile, got up, and stood by confidently at Inuyasha's side.
"Kagome, Inuyasha!" Rin screamed, hitting against the barriers side.
"Rin what is it?" Kagome said, being lifted up y Inuyasha so that they could get there without being attacked by Naraku.
"The real Kagura came and told me a lot but we don't have time to go threw all that what really matters are that she told me that the ring is the key to winning the battle." Rin said, confidence in her eyes that no one would dare to question.
"But what could it mean?" Kagome said, looking down to the ring that glowed a bright blue.
"Inuyasha is there anything special about the ring?" Rin asked looking at the glow getting larger.
"All I know is the legend about picking mates with it that 'If you chose the person that you are supposed to be with you shall live for one thousand years but if you chose wrong then you shall both die.'" Inuyasha thought remembering what Myoga had told him so many times.
"But is there any more to the rings powers than controlling life and death, where did Myoga get it from." Miroku asked.
"Myoga got it from my mother, she got it from my father and before that I do not know." Inuyasha said, with all eyes on him.
"Well we could try and figure out what happened to it before that." Sango said.
"Yes, but unfortunately we are lacking in time, Naraku shall wait not much longer." Miroku said, looking at the dream Naraku & Kagura that were planning.
"There is something about a very powerful ring I remember hearing about." Sesshomaru said, thinking back to his childhood.
"What is it?" Inuyasha said, and then saw Naraku attack; he picked up Kagome and ran across from Naraku.
"The ring has the power to grant one wish and one wish only to the mates it receives as its master over the generations or family's.
However, there was more to this story." Sesshomaru said sadness in his face.
"What is wrong Sesshomaru?" Rin said, looking at his sad face with fear.
"Kagome in the real world will already be close to death from her powers awakening, so this method will seem impossible."
"I don't care tell me what it is." Kagome said, Sesshomaru's words going threw her head.
"You must be separated from the most important thing to you." Sesshomaru said, remembering what his father said.
"What do you mean I never remember father saying anything about this." Inuyasha said, attacking Naraku once again while Kagome looked on helplessly.
"He took the fall for the ring to protect your mother, that is why he is not here today, for when he wished it took away one of his favorite possessions his power." Sesshomaru said, helplessly.
Kagome and Inuyasha looked at each other knowing what the most important thing to them is.
"Kagome I will take it, you need to survive." Inuyasha said, taking the ring off Kagome's hand by force and moving her.
"No Inuyasha, I should." Kagome started, but was silenced by Inuyasha's lips on hers.
"No Kagome, I have to do this as my duty as your mate." Inuyasha said, Kagome looked up at his closed eyes.
Inuyasha backed away from her.
'No I can't let him do this!' Kagome thought and grabbed the ring.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha said, trying to get near her but the light from the ring stopped him.
Kagome looked at Inuyasha one more time; the ring began to grow brighter.
"Inuyasha, I am sorry but I have to do this." Kagome said, closed her eyes and the white light engulfed her.
Kagome disappeared in the light.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha said, as he tried to get to where she was, but finally got to there to late.
Kagome
Kagome opened her eyes to see nothing but white.
"Where am I?" Kagome said, looking around the strange wonder world of white.
"I should be dead, for living with Inuyasha was the most important thing to me in the entire universe." Kagome said, thinking about what the ring told her.
Flash back with the ring
"What is your wish; remember you are only aloud to have one?" The voice said only to Kagome.
"I, I wish that the enemy we are fighting (Naraku and Kagura I will explain that later.) would die." Kagome said, knowing that her friends' living is the most important thing to her in the world, even over life.
"In exchange for this, are you willing to give your life?" The voice asked, Kagome looked over at Inuyasha once more.
"Yes." Kagome said, and then she was swallowed up into white light.
End Flashback
"Why am I here and where is here?" Kagome said, her eyes with tears thinking back about her friends and family.
"You are in the middle between life and death." A voice said, as Kagome turned around to see Midoriko before her.
"Midoriko, what are you doing here?" Kagome asked.
"Kagome for your selfless deeds about people who don't exist in your own time, but you still love them enough to give your life is an act I couldn't ignore." Midoriko said, still floating about Kagome, light surrounding her image.
Kagome was star struck.
"Kagome because of what you did I shall allow you to live, with your friends and family for as long as you were supposing to, you shall not owe me anything." Midoriko said a smile on her face.
"But, but why would you do that for me?" Kagome said, tear of happiness coming out of her eyes.
"Because... Midoriko looked up.
"Kagome I do not have much time, just listened, the Shikon no tama is the key it shall remain inside of you, the amount you have must stay in your body for two months to have you be able to live on your own life."
"Goodbye my great granddaughter." Midoriko said a smile on her face as she disappeared.
"What do you mean, Midoriko, MIDORIKO!" Kagome said as she fell threw an opening of the floor.
Back with Inu and company in reality!
Sango slowly opened her eyes, she looked around at all of her friends in the middle of the room in a circle around something.
"What...?" Sango said, but was silenced by the figure of Miroku coming at her.
"Sango, Kagome's dead." Miroku said, tears in his eyes.
"What, no it can't be, you're lying!" Sango said standing up to face Miroku with tears in her own eyes.
"She died to save all of us, look Naraku and Kagura are gone." Miroku said, looking to the side Naraku and Kagura were when they jumped into the light.
"Where did they go, I remember in that dream reality place after Kagome was gone they evaporated." Sango said her eyes seeming to go into a different world.
"Yes, it is most likely that they survived going threw one of the black beams, for when we were in the light, Kagomes powers died a little, so it wouldn't destroy everything in its path, but change it from good to evil or evil to good." Miroku said, looking at the lines that formed from the powers.
"What about Inuyasha?" Sango said, standing up letting Miroku put an arm over her shoulders.
"Look for yourself." Miroku said, not able to look at his best friend in such a state.
Sango looked at Miroku and then walked over to the middle of the room.
Meganu saw Sango and moved out of the way so that she could see.
Sango looked and saw Inuyasha holding Kagome's lifeless body, her pale face, her lips with no color, her eyes still open with more gray covering the blue that used to shin threw her beautiful eyes.
Her hands at her side, limp and lifeless, tears falling on her face from her mate looking down upon her.
"Kagome..." Sango said, tears falling to join the others.
'Wait is that color I see coming up from her chest.' Sango said, looking in disbelief.
"What was that?" Inuyasha said, life coming back into his eyes.
Her heart beat again.
'Kagome is coming back!' Sango thought looking at her friend gaining color in her face and upper body,
Kagomes eyes fluttered open.
"Inuyasha, everyone." Kagome said, looking at all the happy faces around her.
"Kagome." Inuyasha said, pulling her into a hug, while everyone else was pulling each other into hugs.
Even Sesshomaru was seen with a smile on his cold face wiping away the tears to fast for one to see.
