Chapter 14 revelations of expectancy
5 weeks later
Kagome
Kagome walked down one of the long hallways of the places and sighed.
Inuyasha had been going away almost all day and not coming home until past dark. Isano, Akima, Miroku, Meganu and Sawako are all at the meeting two along with the Sawako's brother's Koshi and Erito and Meganu's brother Kin. Kita had died from her injuries after saving Kagome, Inuyasha and Rin and was given an honorable barrier on the northern lands. That only left Sango who has been disappearing lately to who know where.
'Then again after that whole Miroku incident I wouldn't blame her.' Kagome thought as she made her way down to the living room and lay down on the couch.
Sango seemed depressed after that and barley talked to anyone. Miroku had been keeping his distance from Sango, which surprised everyone. Usually at the chance to be with Sango he would usually do it within the same instant it was uttered.
Kagome suddenly felt a wave of nauseous come over her and held her stomach.
'Maybe I need some fresh air.' Kagome thought as she wished Inuyasha were there but slowly made her way out to the garden.
The sun was shinning and the flowers were in bloom it being mid summer.
'I am probably just to hot.' Kagome thought as she removed the outer part of her kimono leaving only the lesser kimono, which was still a kimono, but not as heavy.
'The army of the east should be arriving within another week or two.' Kagome thought sitting under the comfort of the biggest tree in the garden.
'It may not be the god tree but it works just as good.' Kagome thought looking up into the leaves.
'We have made so many new friends; I just wish it was under different circumstances. Hehe, I can believe that I am the princess of an entire quarter of Japan. My mother flipped when she heard I was getting married to Inuyasha. I am so glad that nothing can faze her.' Kagome thought happily, as she relaxed in the shade.
Kagome felt another wave of nauseous ness over come her being.
'What is wrong with me, I must have caught the flu or something.' Kagome thought holding onto her stomach and trying to calm it down.
When it did, Kagome pulled her hair up and tried to cool down.
'I am so tired, I might as well get some sleep before I go in.' Kagome thought as she was too tired and sick to get up.
Inuyasha and everyone except Sango
Inuyasha rested his hands on the balcony as he looked out into the east.
'Soon, we will have to face Naraku's forces for the final battle. After that all we have to do is finish the jewel.' Inuyasha thought as he stared at the sunset.
"Inuyasha we are going to finish up the meeting in about five minutes!" Meganu said as she walked by the balcony and into her chair for a moment of relaxation.
'It will be dark soon; hopefully the enemy won't surprise us with an attack. I hope Kagome will be safe on the battlefield. Oi, she shouldn't even be going!' Inuyasha thought as he watched the sun completely set.
"Brother is you coming in?" Sesshomaru said waling onto the balcony.
"Yeah I was just thinking." Inuyasha said
They had become close; as if real brothers were, suppose to act without killing each other.
"Well that is scary." Sesshomaru said sarcastically.
"Ha-ha, are you all ready for the battle, we are planning on having the attack two weeks from now." Sesshomaru said in his emotionless tone.
"That's fine, are we going to be having these long meetings more often." Inuyasha said in a disappointed tone.
"Well I need tot start getting the arms ready so, for the next week the only thing that we need to do is get the army ready to go. So this should be the last meeting why?" Sesshomaru said watching everyone file back into his or her seats.
"It just seems that Kagome and I haven't been together in ages and every time I come back she seems tired and she has been sleeping in late so I don't even get to talk to her." Inuyasha said his ears going down as he thought about his mate.
Sesshomaru raised a dignified eyebrow at this information and decided to approach the information with deliciously.
"Well, you should spend some time with your mate once these meetings are over. Rin and I have been spending time together during the night but she to have been feeling lonesome but says that Kagome has been sleeping a lot so she has been helping around doing some of the jobs that I usually do but cannot since we are in war time." Sesshomaru said
"Hey are you two ever coming in?" Akima said her tail swishing.
"Yeah we were just having a little bro talk." Inuyasha said a smile on his face as he ducked one of Sesshomaru's punches.
Sango
Sango sit under a tree on the cloudless night at the training ground.
'Miroku still hasn't talked to me and it has been three weeks. The least he could do is talk, I mean I do not mind that he is not grouping me at least I think I do not.' Sango thought getting up and walking towards the castle.
"What am I going to do?" Sango thought when she bumped into someone.
"Oh I am so sorry." Sango said and then looked up to see Miroku's face.
"Hey Sango." Was all Miroku could gather.
"Hi Miroku are you going back to your room?" She asked a blush on her face.
"Yeah you want to walk together?" Miroku asked seeing Sango in a deep crimson.
"Sure." Sango said as the started to go up the stairs.
House cleaners took Sango's Hirikose from her and they started on their way.
Ever since they had arrived at the castle, they were treated like royalty even if they were just friends of the King and Queen.
They arrived at Sango's room and they both stood outside the door.
"Well goodnight Miroku." Sango said as she was about to close the door when Miroku grabbed her arm.
"Sango, would you like to have dinner alone tomorrow night, we are finally done with the meetings and I would like to talk to you again." Miroku said remembering the blackmail that Sango had forgotten so long ago.
"Yes, Miroku I am so sorry." Sango said and then shut the door before he could respond.
Miroku went to his room in a daze and closed the door.
Inuyasha
Inuyasha walked up last of the stairs to his and Kagome's floor.
Inuyasha grabbed the door handle and opened it quietly so that Kagome would not wake up.
'I missed her so much I am glad the meetings are over.' Inuyasha thought with a smile at Kagomes happy expression that she would have when he told her.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha asked seeing the bed untouched and her scent old.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha screamed looking threw the entire floor.
Inuyasha ran out into the balcony and caught her scent coming from outside.
'She shouldn't be outside, it is almost twelve am.' Inuyasha thought jumping down and following her scent with a worried expression.
Inuyasha came to the garden and saw Kagome sleeping under a tree.
'She is going to cause me an early death.' Inuyasha said in a sarcastic laugh and kneeled down near Kagome.
Kagome felt a presence and opened her eyes to meet golden ones.
"Inuyasha what are you doing out here this morning?" Kagome asked half asleep.
"Kagome it is almost twelve in the morning." Inuyasha said laughing.
"It is?" Kagome said looking around.
"Yeah have you been out here all day?" Inuyasha said picking Kagome up and walking back to their room.
Kagome nodded tiredly.
"I was just feeling sick so I went outside to get some fresh air and then it was to hot so I decided to rest in the shade for a couple of minutes to get my stomach settled." Kagome said still holding her stomach.
"Kagome you haven't caught a cold have you?" Inuyasha said as they arrived in their room.
"I think I have, I am feeling sick, not hungry, and tired all the time." Kagome said as she was placed down gently on the bed by her mate who sat next to her.
Inuyasha gave Kagome a look of concern as she told him what sounded like the flu.
"Well the best thing you could do is rest." Inuyasha said as he tucked her in.
Kagome nodded and almost instantly fell asleep.
The next day
Inuyasha had left at lunch after some 'convincing' as Sesshy liked to call it and Rin and Sango were left to watch over Kagome.
"So Kagome are you feeling any better?" Sango asked as she looked at Kagomes face that seemed to gain a little color.
"Yes, it seems to be going on and off since last week so everyone shouldn't be so worried." Kagome said trying to wave them off to no avail.
"Yes but Kagome you need to be rested incase the enemy makes an attack and we have to move out, so you need to get over this flu." Rin said worry in her eyes.
"Kagome what are the symptoms of this flu?" Sango asked something not adding up in her mind about Kagomes mysterious sickness.
"Um, well like I said it started a week ago but seems to be going away a little, I feel sick to my stomach, I feel hot all of a sudden, I am tired all the time, and I don't feel hungry." Kagome said her tone never wavering.
"Kagome could you be with child?" Sango said all of the symptoms adding up to pregnancy.
"WHAT!" Kagome said sitting up in bed so fast that Rin and Sango were knocked out of bed.
"Here start's the mood swings." Sango said rubbing her head.
"Sorry you guys but Sango you were just joking right?" Kagome said a smile on her face.
'Judging by her sudden mood swing from anger and shock to concern and happiness I don't think so.' Rin thought scared by the smile Kagome was pointing in their direction.
"Kagome you are mated to Inuyasha and you guys have been 'active'." Sango said a huge blush coming on all three of your faces.
"Yes, but you don't think that, oh god, what am I going to do, Inuyasha wont let me go with him to battle if he finds out. Girls you can't tell him!" Kagome said and then looked at the girls with a serious glaze.
"But Kagome you can't go out into battle in your condition, you might lose the baby." Sango said trying to get her friend to listen to reasoning.
"I know but..." Kagome said but could not win against Sango's reasoning.
"Kagome the battle is in less than two weeks if we even get that much time, you have to tell Inuyasha." Rin said
"Plus the demons will smell it." Sango added.
"Yes but they haven't smelled it yet so I could pull it off and still get to be with Inuyasha." Kagome said (her brain is al jumbled up and this will just add to what I have planned hehe.)
"Kagome we know that being with Inuyasha is the most important thing to you..." Rin started
"No I do care for the pup!" Kagome said
"Kagome we know and that is why you are going to have to be separated for a little while but he will come back within two weeks." Rin said remembering the information that Sesshomaru had given her.
"But I don't want to be here alone." Kagome said tears falling down her face.
"Kagome I will stay with you if it makes you feel better." Sango said a smile on her face.
"And I will to." Rin added a smile to match Sango's masquerading on her face.
"Thank you but I don't know." Kagome said and then lie back against her pillow and fell asleep.
"Kagome..." Sango said but was stopped by Rin's hand.
"Sango she needs rest come on." Rin said and then went downstairs brining a reluctant Sango with her.
Kagome opened her eyes after her friends had left.
'I pregnant but I cannot be.' Kagomes said and then looked down at her stomach to notice a small lump.
Just then a knock on the door.
"Come in." Kagome said trying to act like a queen that she was, but feeling awkward.
"Your majesty Lady Sango and Lady Rin told me that you were showing the signs of caring pup, I am Dr. Washu. The scent specialist, I could tell you if you really are with pup." Dr. Washu said.
Kagome nodded.
Dr. Washu came over; she was a dog demon with pink hair and beautiful eyes. She had the elf ears like Sesshomaru and wore a white lab coat.
Dr. Washu came over and gave her a sniff.
Kagome blush having a doctor this close and thanked Kami it was a girl.
"Yes, your is different from Rin's who was not with pup and you seem to be giving off the particular scent of pregnancy. In my opinion and I have never been wrong yes you are with pup congratulations. Do you wish me to tell your mate?" Dr. Washu said so fast it made Kagomes head spin.
"Thank you, but no I will tell him." Kagome said in a happy tone.
"Well you are a month along judging by your scent so in about six more months you should give birth!" Dr. Washu said happily
"Thank you right now I just need some fresh air, I really appreciate it." Kagome said and then watched Dr. Washu leave.
'I guess Sango was right, at least my mom will be happy.' Kagome thought with a smile remembering her conversation with her mother.
FLASHBACK
Kagome walked out of the well after just leaving Inuyasha.
Kagome smiled as she looked at the ring and took a deep breath and walked into the house.
"Mom, Sota, Ji-chan I'm home!" Kagome called happily.
"Kagome its just me!" Kagomes mother called from the kitchen.
"Hi mom." Kagome said happily
"Hi sweetie I haven't seen you in so long, how are you doing?" Kagomes mom said embracing her daughter in a hug.
"Great, mom I am engaged." Kagome said and then waited for the impacted, the explosion any kind of rage to come from her mother. However, it never happened.
"KAGOME THAT'S WONDERFUL!" Kagomes mother said hugging her even more tightly.
"What?" Kagome asked an shocked look on her face.
"It's to that nice Inuyasha isn't it, I am so happy for you!" Kagomes mother said looking at the ring and hugging her daughter again.
"Yeah." Kagome said in to much of a shock to say anything.
"Oh now I can tell that you are going to be away more right?" Kagomes mom said seeming to be high on energy like when you chug three bottles of mountain dew or chocolate syrup.
"Yeah we are going to the western castle to get ready for the final battle so I don't have a clue when I will be back." Kagome said finding her voice.
"Well then you are going to need baby stuff!" Kagomes mom said and then disappeared into the kitchen cabinets.
"MOM!" Kagome said turning red.
"Ok here are 400 dippers two months of baby formula and let me go get yours and Sota's baby clothes!" She said and ran up to the attic.
Kagome did a nervous laugh.
"HERE YOU GO!" Kagomes mom said coming back with two big boxes.
"Mom exactly how long have you been planning for this?" Kagome asked as she backed up as her mother got out a huge book bag and stuffed everything inside.
"Um, I would say since you were fifteen and brought home Inuyasha." She said happily filling the bag with everything necessary along with the baby stuff.
'Oh boy why didn't I see this coming?' Kagome thought as she saw her mother finishing her packing.
END FLASHBACK
Kagome laughed at the memory and then walked over to her over sized backpack.
'At least I will be prepared.' Kagome thought and then walked out on the balcony in need of fresh air to clear her mind.
Inuyasha and Sesshomaru appeared out on the balcony looking out on all the troops.
"Sesshomaru we have enough force to take Naraku down right?" Inuyasha asked looking at all of troops.
"Yeah, Inuyasha have any house cleaners come by here within the past hour?" Sesshomaru asked
"No, why?" Inuyasha asked
"Rin's scent was very weird and she wasn't feeling good so we had the doctors see if she was with pup, you know the doctor who is a specialist on scents." Sesshomaru said.
"Your majesties, I have an announcement from the doctor he said that Rin is not with pup." The house cleaner said, bowed and then left.
"Good that would be the last thing we need; we would have too much of a problem if that happened." Inuyasha said a little anxiety ridden.
Sesshomaru nodded.
"It would be harder to deal with we should just be happy this is not another situation that we have to deal with, though I would like it but at a different time." Sesshomaru said.
"Not Shit Sherlock. Rin having a pup right now is possible the worse timing that could ever happen." Inuyasha said crossing his arms.
Sesshomaru gave his brother an annoyed look.
Kagome put a hand over her mouth and tears started to flow down her face.
"Come they are ready for us and you probably want to be with Kagome." Sesshomaru said in a brotherly tone that made Inuyasha twitch.
'You know I think I will never get used to that.' Inuyasha thought with a small laugh.
As soon as Kagome thought they were gone, she broke out in a loud sob.
'No, now what am I going to do, Inuyasha will hate me for this. I can't tell him now; if I do I will probable be banished.' Kagome thought running out of her room her arms wrapped around herself and tears poring out of her eyes.
Later that day with Inuyasha
Inuyasha looked at the scene before him in boredoms and agitation of being her and not with his sick mate.
"Inuyasha you will be in charge of the first grope with me, any questions?" Sesshomaru asked looking at his pissed off brother.
"Yeah can I go now I have been here since noon and it is now four, Kagome is sick and that is what my top priority is right now so can I go!" Inuyasha asked in a annoyed tone.
He heard Meganu, Akima and the rest of the girls laugh and what he thought sounded like why we do not get care about like that.
"Yes Inuyasha..." Sesshomaru said and then noticed that he was gone.
"It is sweet to see him so attentive and loving to Kagome." Meganu said a smile on her face.
Everyone nodded with a smile except Sesshomaru and Koga who was still licking his wounds so to speak.
Inuyasha walked up the stairs to find his room empty and Kagomes scent old.
"Oi, she is going to cause my hair to go whiter." Inuyasha said remembering one of the sayings he had heard Kagomes mother say
Inuyasha came to find Kagome up in a tree.
"Kagome what are you doing up there you could hurt yourself!" Inuyasha yelled jumping up to Kagome.
'Oh no did Sango tell him, that TRAITOR, I am going to be in so much trouble!' Kagome thought nervously happy that the tears had left her face a while ago.
"Inuyasha I am feeling fine and I am not that far along." Kagome said trying to get Inuyasha to not go into his overprotective mood.
"Well I know that you aren't that far along so you should still be in bed, being outside isn't healthy for a woman in your condition." Inuyahsa said his ear twitching.
"Inuyasha women in my time in my condition are always going out and doing things, some even still go to work." Kagome said getting annoyed.
"Kagome the best thing for you right now is rest so you are going back to the room!" Inuyasha said grabbing Kagome.
"Inuyasha if I don't have fresh air and exercise it could cause compilations and I doubt that you want that for any of us!" Kagome screamed looking at Inuyahsa as if he was crazy.
"No Kagome if you don't rest then you will never get over the illness!" Inuyasha screamed jumping down to the ground with gentleness.
"You are talking about me being sick?" Kagome asked a confused look on her face.
"Yes what did you think I was talking about?" Inuyasha asked a confused look on his face to match Kagomes perfectly.
"I thought you were talking about me being pre..." Kagome said and then stopped herself.
"Pre what?" Inuyasha asked looking at Kagome as if she was nuts.
"Pretence of better!" Kagome said laughing.
"Right, Kagome I think you need rest." Inuyasha said running up to the room.
Inuyasha tucked Kagome in and she instantly fell asleep.
'Boy she has been acting weird.' Inuyasha thought and then smelled something different about her scent.
'What is this change in her scent?' Inuyasha thought and then decided to as Sesshomaru about it.
Inuyasha closed the door and turned around just to run into his brother literally.
"Little brother no matter how old you get you are just a clumsily." Sesshomaru said holding his head, which had been knocked into a dresser when Inuyasha bumped into him.
"Sesshomaru I need to ask you something, did you notice something different about Kagomes scent?" Inuyasha asked trying to ignore the pain.
"You haven't noticed, well Rin was actually the one to point it out but yes I did." Sesshomaru said happy just to have something over his brother.
"Well what is it?" Inuyasha asked.
"I can't tell you Rin swore me to secrecy." Sesshomaru said holding up his hands.
"Sesshomaru come on, you can tell me, and I won't tell Kagome who told me." Inuyasha said crossing his fingers behind his back.
"Well Kagome is..." Sesshomaru said but was interrupted by Rin
"SESSHOMARU!" Rin screamed from behind him.
"Hi sweetie!" Sesshomaru said backing up against a wall.
"Sweetie can I see you in our bed room for a minute." Rin asked in a scary tone.
"Sure." Sesshomaru said and then mouthed to his brother 'I am going to kill you for this!'
Inuyasha knocked it off and went to get Kagome and himself dinner.
Sango and Miroku
Sango was wearing a purple kimono to match her eyes with gold snow going down the kimono.
"Sango you look lovely tonight." Miroku said bowing to Sango.
"Thank you Miroku." Sango said blushing.
They sat down on opposite parts of a small table.
"So Sango what have you been up to?" Miroku asked trying not to bring up the 'subject'.
"Nothing how about you?" Sango asked
"Same." Miroku asked as they were served their main course.
"Miroku."
"Sango."
"No you first." Sango said
"No you!" Miroku said.
"Miroku I am so sorry, it was supposed to be a joke. I didn't want to be the one who had to get you to come to your room but the girls said I had to!" Sango blurted out.
"Sango its ok I am the one who should be apologizing I acted to so cold to you, I should have known that you would never have betrayed me. I am sorry." Miroku said hugging Sango and Sango held her back.
"I am sorry to Miroku." Sango said happily.
"I am sorry to, how about we go back to being the way we were before." Miroku asked with a smile.
"Sure, I would like that a lot." Sango said hugging him.
"YOU NEVER CHANGE DO YOU?" Sango said hitting Miroku for guess what.
"Hehe, you said back to the way we were." Miroku said rubbing his head.
"None the less I am happy to be friends with you again." Sango said smiling.
"Yeah, friends." Miroku said a devious smile on his face.
Back with Kagome and Inuyasha.
Inuyasha brought up the food and sat it down on the table they had in their room.
"Kagome wake up, you have to eat something." Inuyasha said shaking her a little.
Kagome slowly got up and sat down at the small table.
She looked at the food and was about to go back to bed when Dr. Washu's words went threw her head and her hand went down to her stomach.
Kagome got up and reluctantly put a peace of beef in her mouth and ate it even though she felt as if she was full.
"Kagome aren't you hungry?" Inuyasha asked concerned because he could remember her eating no breakfast or lunch.
"I don't seem to have much of an appetite today but I realize I must eat something." Kagome said trying not to let into her secret.
"Kagome, what is wrong I can smell something wrong with your scent and it is not any illness that I have ever been around before." Inuyasha said setting down his food.
"Don't be silly Inuyasha, I think you have been spending too much time in meetings. I am just having a little cold." Kagome said trying to sound better.
"Kagome if something is wrong you can tell me." Inuyasha said grabbing Kagomes hand.
Inuyasha's words still wrung threw her head.
'"Good that would be the last thing we need; we would have too much of a problem if that happened."'.
Kagome shook a little, as she knew Inuyasha would be angry and she did not want her love to hate her.
"Kagome what is wrong, I wont be angry." Inuyasha said getting worried at Kagomes shaking form.
Kagome looked at him, his amber eyes showing nothing but worry.
"I am..." Kagome started but was having trouble saying it in fear of his reaction.
Kagome wrapped an arm around her waist.
"Yes Kagome you can tell me." Inuyasha said brining Kagome onto his lap and wrapping his arms around her small form.
"Inuyasha I am pregnant." Kagome said and then held onto his jacket as if it was her lifeline.
"I am sorry Inuyasha I can understand if you want to banish me, I heard what you said to Sesshomaru and I am so sorry." Kagome said tears falling out of her eyes like a rainfall.
"Kagome..."
Somewhere on the western lands...
Naraku ride on his hoarse with a smirk on his face.
'Soon it will all be over for Inuyasha and Midoriko. Or should I say Kagome.' Naraku thought as his army rode behind him.
"Naraku do you wish for Kanna and I to lead the second part." Kagura asked on her feather with Kanna riding behind her.
"Yes we shall initiate the plan in about two days. Make sure the men are ready." Naraku said in his cold tone.
'You will never see this coming; I hope that you enjoy your last moments of life Inuyasha and Kagome.' Naraku thought as they closed in on the palace which was just days away.
